THE ROLE

The Peloton Machine Shop is where the future versions of our fitness products are created and tested. The Manufacturing Shop Machinist is responsible for building prototypes for our product design, manufacturing, and quality teams. Our shop contains a range of machining and forming equipment in order to produce highly precise and functional “proof-of-concept” models. In this role, you will be responsible for setting up and running these machines, in addition to maintaining the shop space including ordering consumables, performing machine maintenance and organizing the space. This role collaborates closely with our Manufacturing and Mechanical Engineering teams to develop custom fixtures and parts that will be used for process improvement initiatives and future product development. This job is based in Secaucus, NJ.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Build product and fixture prototypes for our Bike, Tread, Tablet and Accessory products lines as an integral part of our operations team
  • Ensure accuracy, efficiency, and quality of machining processes
  • Perform inspection on finished components and fixtures 
  • Documentation of setup, operation, and programming for CNC machines
  • Record accurate information of inspection documents, material certification records, and other required forms
  • Manage and schedule jobs across the different equipment available in the shop
  • Manage an assistant machinist and/or lab technician
  • Schedule and perform preventive equipment maintenance and calibration, in addition to general upkeep on our equipment
  • Stock and budget for materials and consumables used in the shop space
  • Keep all tools, machinery, tooling, and accessories clean, orderly, and safe
  • Supervise any work in the shop assuring appropriate training and safety measures

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Manufacturing Certificate/Associates degree from an accredited program (Preferred)
  • 10+ years CNC Mill and CNC Lathe experience, including setup, operation, and programming
  • 5+ years Waterjet experience, including setup, operation, and programming
  • 5+ year experience managing and maintaining a prototype or production shop
  • Professional Welding Certification from an accredit program is a plus
  • Experience with general shop tools, drill press, bandsaw, press brake, etc
  • Thorough knowledge of speeds and feeds for efficient performance of cutting tools
  • Capable of running manual lathes and mills
  • Proficient in blueprint reading, assembly drawings, shop math, geometry, and GD&T
  • Able to use micrometers, gauges, and other inspection equipment for product verification
  • Prior experience with consumer products is a strong plus
  • Shop safety certification (OSHA and/or C-14 Certificate of Fitness)
  • Shop administration experience: Develop & Maintain Machine programs, work instructions, maintenance, MSDS
  • Knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, IEC, Ergonomics, PPE, Lockout/Tagout
  • Great organizational skills
  • Strong written and spoken communication skills 
  • Must have basic computer proficiency using Microsoft Office or similar products (Google Docs)
  • Ability to be self-motivated and independent
