Summary: 

Responsible for managing all aspects of PBI Gordons logistics decisions and assist with Pet Ag and Pegasus when needed. 

Primary Responsibilities/Activities:  

  • Manage the relationship between Transportation Insight our 3PL and all business units of PBI Gordon.  
  • Maintain PBI Gordons relationships with freight carriers and brokers and assist when needed for Petag and Pegasus. 
  • Work with outside logistics provider and carriers to constantly improve the companys pricing situation and  
  • make special pricing deals as needed to get the best rates on specific shipments. 
  • Create shipments from customer orders. Use the tools in place to select the best carrier for that shipment. 
  • Coordinate customer Return Material Authorizations to the proper PBI-Gordon facility.  
  • Work with Customer Service to help resolve customer return issues and receiving discrepancies such as damages, billing errors, service problems. Also, assist with customer orders during the busy times of year.  
  • Manage international freight, by getting quotes from multiple carriers and preparing the necessary paperwork that is required. 
  • Provide freight analytics when requested from Marketing, Sales and any other department when needed. 
  • Organize/Attend meetings dealing with Logistics or Building issues.  
  • Work with Customer Service to help resolve customer return issues and receiving discrepancies such as damages, billing errors and service problems 
  • Monitor potential inventory shortages, which may result in backorders. Work with production, sales, warehouse, and purchasing to prevent these problems as possible. 
  • Participate in a weekly Production meeting to ensure inventory, raw materials and packaging will be available for future and current customer orders.  
  • Organize PBI Gordon intercompany freight transfer based on sales forecast and inventory needs. Assist other business units when needed.  
  • Provide Logistic support to the Purchasing department. 
  • Manage and operate parcel-shipping systems as needed. 
  • Assist in creation and revision of MSDS sheets as it relates to DOT sections. 
  • Work with field sales representatives in areas involving transportation. 
  • All other duties as may be assigned. 

 

Qualifications:  

  • Experience/Education: High School diploma or equivalent; at least 5 years in transportation, shipping or logistics related position. 
  • Specialized knowledge or training: experience with an ERP system; good communication and negotiation skills.  
  • Other special skills: Ability to interpret documents such as safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions and shipping documents. Good communication and negotiation skills, excel at multi-tasking and working in a fast-paced environment 
  • Travel required in this position: 0-10%
