Do you believe that creators should have the ability to get paid for the value they give to their fans? We do, which is why we're building Patreon, a platform that powers membership services for creators with established followings. Patreon strives to provide creators with insight, education, and tools that make it possible to retain creative control while running their creative business, so creators can focus on creating and energizing their fanbases.
Our user base has doubled in the last year alone, and we have paid over $500 million directly to creators on our platform. In order to support this level of growth, Patreon is looking for a Senior Product Manager to charter Patreon’s brand new international expansion effort.
Reporting to the VP of Growth, your peers will be fellow high caliber product managers working across various functions of the company. Your team will consist of equal partnership in engineering and design leads. You are a partner to, and will work in tandem with, the international go-to-market operations team based in Berlin, Germany. You are always supported by research, data science, and operations teammates when needed.
This role can be based in San Francisco or New York, with about 20% travel expected.
What you will do:
Lead the product team responsible for Patreon’s international expansion — covering internationalization and localization, region-based product customizations, enabling top-of-funnel marketing, currencies, and payment methods outside of the United States.
Create a vision and a strategy that enables Patreon to be a locally-minded global brand, supporting the unique needs of creators world-wide.
Help bridge regional partnerships teams with HQ and champion the need of teammates from outside the United States.
Develop a deep understanding of prospective creators from around the world - their motivations, concerns and blockers.
Collaborate across the entire organization to apply systemic changes required for translation, operational scaling, and growth.
Skill and experience you possess:
7+ years experience in product development, ideally with a focus on internationalization projects(including but is not limited to language translation, culture-driven customizations, currencies, payment methods, and others).
Experience in an ongoing product translation operation; capable of designing and implementing a translation process that fits the company’s product development cadence.
Keen understanding and awareness of the nuances in design that make a product operate seamlessly for non-English and non-American customers.
Balance product vision and strategy with attention to detail and execution.
Ability to orchestrate complex large scale projects while working with constraints / trade-offs.
Experience in the dual tracks of product discovery and delivery.
Outcomes oriented, supported by a track record of moving key business qualitative and quantitative metrics.
Exceptional stakeholder management and communication.
Bonus points for:
Knowledge of SaaS metrics and recurring revenue business models.
Experience with global acquisition tactics such as content, SEO and community building.
Has a natural curiosity and humility for cultures. Perhaps a world traveler in your free time.
Fluent in more than one language and/or have lived abroad for a substantial period of time.
