We are seeking a Robotics Laboratory Administrator to oversee robotic developmental resources at both our Headquarters and Plant locations (both in the Columbus, Ohio area). In this onsite role, you will play a critical part in supporting both the launch and development of new research initiatives in Robotics, Computer Vision, Welding, and Software Engineering. In addition, you will work closely with our verification and validation teams to ensure physical test resources are stable and readily available. 

You will help facilitate an agenda that emphasizes multi-disciplinary collaborative research on safe, resilient, and scalable robotics in the service of Path’s business goals. You will help outfit and maintain the space with equipment, materials, training, and support to build and sustain a robust multi-disciplinary research and test platform for Path. You will work closely with the business and technical leaders to operationalize the laboratory for collaborative research and testing and will support engineers and scientists who utilize the laboratory on a day-to-day basis.  

What You’ll Do

  • Plan, organize, and maintain Laboratory infrastructure, including ordering, installing, and upgrading hardware and software, organizing and managing materials and supplies.
  • Develop, document, and manage Laboratory safety requirements and protocols.
  • Train users on Laboratory equipment and protocols.
  • Create, prioritize, and streamline scheduling for users on Laboratory equipment and spaces.
  • Communicate with internal stakeholders (weld, sensors, etc.) and external vendors for equipment maintenance, training, and software updates.
  • Develop a comprehensive training schedule for new users and communicating training updates and other best practices to existing users.
  • Plan, organize, and implement Laboratory programs to foster a collaborative community.
  • Create and foster an inclusive and welcoming environment that encourages innovation, collaboration, and creativity.
  • Manage the standardization, configuration control, and communication of the state of the development cells for both hardware and software.
  • Implement a 5S program for the lab space. Understand the current situation and opportunities for improvement, set an order to the lab, standardize the tools/processes, sustain and continuously improve, and most importantly oversee safety.
  • Properly document and allocate technical issues to the right channels.
  • Configure and execute automated hardware in the loop testing program
  • Oversee and support daily physical regression testing.
  • Create and execute a preventative maintenance program for the development cells.
  • Management of materials (test fixtures, test parts (t-joints, etc.), calibration tools).
  • Ensure the development cells are always calibrated and in working order.

Who You Are

  • You must be independent, self-motivated, well-organized, possess strong problem-solving skills, and be able to multitask
  • Industrial robot experience, for example, pendant program Yaskawa industrial robots
  • Industrial controls/wiring experience, comfortable opening panel, bonus if low or high voltage certified
  • Familiar with industrial safety standards, bonus if familiar with weld safety standards
  • Robotic MIG/GMAW welding experience
  • Project management experience - can envision and execute projects and programs related to the dev cell fleet
  • Shop equipment skills: manual welding, CNC, drill press, band saw, etc.
  • High level of computer literacy - Linux experience and comfort with shell navigation, running scripts, installing software, git, etc.
  • Training and experience with electrical systems (wiring, debugging, design)
  • Can think both tactically and strategically 
  • Positive mindset and high level of professional versatility such that they can work at all levels of the business and provide the highest level of customer service
