This is an interim position which is expected to last for 6 to 9 months. This is a hybrid position, with 2-3 days spent in the London offices.
Purpose of Position
Pantheon is undergoing a multi-year programme to build out a new best in class Data Warehouse using cloud native technologies hosted in Azure. This role will be integral to the success of this programme and establishing Pantheon as a data-centric organisation.
You will be working with Azure tech stack and proven experience of testing ingestion and transformation data from a variety of internal and external systems is core to the role.
The Senior Data QA Engineer will be a key member of the data team, working closely with peers to ensure solutions are delivered efficiently and to the highest quality.
Key Responsibilities
To be successful in the role you will be expected to:
- Plan, design & execute testing activities for new features being implemented as well as for the changes to existing systems
- Be hands on in the creation of test cases and test execution.
- Be a strong advocate for test automation with extensive experience in delivering working solutions.
- Create manual and automated test cases to verify functional and non-functional requirements of solutions in various stages of the development life cycle.
- Find critical bugs and verify reported issues; identifying their underlying cause and seeing them through to resolution and liaising with other teams where appropriate.
- Producing descriptive and concise bug reports that evidence the functionality of a solution.
- Communicating status information and issues to a variety of stakeholders, adapting appropriately depending on the audience.
Knowledge and Experience Required
- Extensive experience in testing software, systems and data solutions (for example Data Warehouses).
- Ability to create, adapt and execute effective test strategies.
- Ability to think creatively, problem solve, and innovate.
- Extensive experience in web, database and BI technologies.
- Experience in testing data and storage services in Azure (Azure SQL database, data Lake and data storage)
- Extensive experience in testing BI reports, dashboards, datasets and data models.
- Experience in agile software development methodologies including BDD & TDD.
- Extensive experience in different test automation tools and technology.
- Experience in creating and maintaining automated tests using C# (nunit, REST APIs)
- Solid understanding of testing pyramid and experience in implementing it at different levels
- Experience working in a continuous integration and delivery environment
- Hands-on experience in working with Azure Data Integration toolset
- Working knowledge of product/defect/test case management systems.
- Advanced SQL with a solid understanding of database structures.
- Attention to detail, taking nothing for granted.
