The Role

Pantheon is looking for a Director of Engineering to join our team with a focus on some key areas of our Product’s growth.  You will be responsible for technically leading and managing a few globally distributed teams. We’re expanding an impressive and growing platform that powers hundreds of thousands of websites, millions of containerized resources, billions of monthly page views, and development tools that professional website developers use.

We have built applications and tools in support of our customers in addition to our teams that enable our customers.  Our Autopilot feature shipped last year and we’re expanding it in a variety of ways to support the wide array of needs our customers have. Our Visual Regression Testing service is core to many avenues of needs across various teams. We have a few more avenues just getting started and your leadership will be crucial to our growth and success in this space.

Cool Things You'll Do

  • Close collaboration with the broader engineering team to deliver improvements and provide thought leadership and organizational guidance for other technical initiatives
  • Lead the teams responsible for Autopilot and some of our foundational services
  • Ensure ownership of your teams’ production systems, measuring and tracking their health, and assist our dedicated support team to resolve production issues
  • Continuous improvements to our standard of engineering excellence by implementing best practices for coding, testing, deploying and communication
  • Shepherd architecturally significant changes across the whole of Engineering regarding the technological impact on current and future processes, products, and services

What you Bring to the Table

  • You enjoy and have experience with large-scale, high traffic platforms and the design of scalable, robust services in the real world
  • You help drive technical decisions and can contribute to technical architecture discussions
  • You are a clear communicator, able to represent your contributions and ideas with clarity while remaining open and giving space to the contributions and ideas of others.
  • 10+ years of leadership experience in enterprise software organizations demonstrating the ability to define and improve engineering productivity
  • 3+ years of managing other engineering managers
  • 5+ years of software development experience delivering new products to either the private or public cloud
  • Demonstrated track record of hiring, developing, and managing engineering talent, and building diverse, performant teams
  • Proven ability to develop and implement a strategic roadmap to build and achieve a best-in-class organization.
  • Experience with the following technologies:

     * Golang

     * Python

     * Google Cloud Platform

     * Kubernetes

     * Docker
