PagerDuty is seeking a Principal Product Manager (Flexible Platform) to join our diverse, customer-focused team! As Principal Product Manager, you will help our customers better manage a variety of different types of real-time urgent work, not just in Software and IT Operations, but in a variety of other functions across the landscape of Digital Operations. You'll own two of our most critical building blocks, Flexible Work Objects, and Flexible Notifications, and play a key technical and product leadership role across several development teams working to define our strategy and roadmap. The Flexible Platform team is working closely with other product development teams internally who will leverage these building blocks to build new products as well as external customers and partners!

This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with customers and partners to better understand their needs as it comes to platform flexibility and customizability; our larger, more sophisticated customers, in particular, are asking for a high level of customizability in terms of how they manage real-time work (such as work objects beyond PD's incidents) like post-mortems, tasks, customer cases, security events, and how these objects leverage other flexible platform building blocks like notifications, workflows, and automation actions!

The ideal candidate will bridge the world between API-first platform principles and understanding the burning problems of other product development teams and our external customers (and you have the metrics at your fingertips to back it up)! You're equally comfortable discussing the merits of an API structure and the business case for integration with a potential platform customer. You can rapidly learn 3rd-party applications and their platform concepts (ServiceNow, Atlassian, Salesforce, etc) and design a platform strategy that is feasible, usable, and maintainable.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Define the roadmap for two of our core flexible platform building blocks: Work Objects and Notifications
  • Partner closely with engineering and design on new building block enhancements.
  • Prioritize feedback from 3rd-party developers, internal development teams, internal Professional Services, and partner teams.
  • Partner with other PD development teams to enable them on how to leverage platform building blocks and help make them successful.
  • Design the tools and content to seamlessly onboard development teams and customers onto the platform.
  • Support marketing with content and awareness for developers and internal stakeholders.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 6-10+ years of product management experience for a SaaS enterprise software company preferably with B2B applications and platform experience.
  • Strong knowledge of integration architecture, patterns and platforms, understanding of cross-application business processes and flows, and knowledge of API best practices
  • You have enough technical knowledge to be respected by engineers.
  • Ability to experiment with 3rd party APIs, designing APIs based on RESTful principles, and collaborating on integration solution design.
  • Ability to be self-driven in writing SQL queries to get access to make data-driven decisions.
  • Ability to effectively interface and communicate with customers and all stakeholders within the organization.
  • Excellent collaboration skills with cross-functional teams that include engineering, product management, sales, and marketing staff.
  • Experience with Agile software methods or a desire to learn them; we don’t throw PRDs over the fence and hope for the best.
  • You strongly empathize with customers where your customers are other internal or external development teams. You can sit down with users and understand the ways that your product is not satisfying their needs.
  • You can lead without giving orders and argue a viewpoint persuasively.
  • You can write, speak, and think about complicated and highly technical problems with uncommon lucidity.
  • Proven record of product management accomplishments and initiatives with demonstrated success in product build and release to market.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's and/or Master's in Engineering, Computer Science, technical related field, or equivalent practical experience as a software engineer.
  • Software development experience is a big plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills along with strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Rapid, resourceful problem solver.

Race & Ethnicity Definitions

If you believe you belong to any of the categories of protected veterans listed below, please indicate by making the appropriate selection. As a government contractor subject to the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA), we request this information in order to measure the effectiveness of the outreach and positive recruitment efforts we undertake pursuant to VEVRAA. Classification of protected categories is as follows:

A "disabled veteran" is one of the following: a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; or a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.

An "Armed forces service medal veteran" means a veteran who, while serving on active duty in the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service, participated in a United States military operation for which an Armed Forces service medal was awarded pursuant to Executive Order 12985.

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
