Paciolan is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer/Senior Platform Reliability Engineer to join our Technical Services team.  In this role, the candidate will design, architect, and illustrate Backup and Storage solutions.  The position will involve interaction with both internal and external clients to achieve a high level of customer satisfaction, as well as work to improve and strengthen the current Backup/Storage systems infrastructure. A critical component of the role is the ability to maintain and assess all components necessary for server security and operational management. The successful applicant will possess a strong background in installation, administration, monitoring, and triage of Backup and Storage products running on Linux.

What the job includes:

  • Support our core Netbackup Enterprise Server infrastructure technologies running on Linux
  • Proficient in Cisco MDS switch environment
  • Support Pure Storage SAN disk arrays
  • Take ownership in providing systems engineering, technical support, and performance improvements in a high-volume e-commerce environment
  • Field, review, and resolve day-to-day hardware and software problems; Provide day-to-day maintenance of systems
  • Provide recommendations for system changes to management based on internal customer requests and analysis
  • Regularly engage in hardware capacity planning activities and maintaining appropriate configuration documentation
  • Interface with vendor partners to provide necessary contracted support and technology solutions
  • Provide 1st level support for Backup and Storage issues – on-call coverage required
  • Provide operational monitoring and support of operational efforts 

What is required of you:

  • 3-5 years experience as a Backup/Storage Engineer utilizing Linux server platforms, preferably for a high volume, 24 x 7 ASP, e-commerce environment
  • Proficient in the following:
  • Cisco MDS SAN switches
  • Working knowledge of RH/CentOS Linux operating systems
  • Unix shell and / or Perl scripting
  • Ability to work early hour and weekend work on a rotational basis
  • Strong collaborative orientation to encourage and foster sharing of knowledge and experience within the department and with other business groups
  • Engineering experience with Linux
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize daily work to simultaneously make progress between client trouble calls and ongoing infrastructure projects
  • Good analytical, verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong focus on customer service
  • In depth experience with server setup and troubleshooting, server monitoring tools, systems administration and performance reporting.
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to an atmosphere of teamwork through collaborative behavior and open communication
  • Experience working in an enterprise data center environment
  • Familiarity with load balancers, LAN and WAN devices, and general networking knowledge
  • Comfortable with juggling multiple high-priority tasks and have a drive to exceed expectations

  • Citrix XEN Server
  • Automation using Ansible
  • Experience with Cisco’s UCS
  • Experience with the Rocket U2 Universe Database product
  • HACMP / Dynamic Logical Partitioning, Storage Area Networks, database technologies, and multi-site disaster recovery solutions
  • Experience with RH/CentOS 7
  • Knowledge of UNIX security
  • AWS experience with S3 and EC2

The approximate base pay range for this position is $120,000 to $140,000. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to job-related knowledge, skills, and experience as well as geographic location.
