What to expect 

As a HR/People Operations Specialist, you will be supporting our People Team by acting as the first point of contact for HR-related queries from employees and external partners. You are the right fit for the role if you are hungry to grow in People Operations. The HR/People Operations Specialist will ensure that all of our practices run as efficiently as possible and scale to ensure we are able to provide the best employee experience for Ozow. Ultimately, you will be responsible for providing our new joiners with a great onboarding experience to kick start their journey at Ozow. 

As an ideal candidate you do not let important details slip through the cracks or derail a project. You are able to produce significant output with minimal waisted effort. You demonstrate tenacity and willingness to go the distance to get something done. You are passionate about technology and using software tools to build an industry leading People Team. You will serve as a subject matter expert and point of contact in several of the people operations focus areas. You will also be cross trained in the overall work activities of people operations and be flexible to support other activities as needed. 

You are an ideal candidate if you have: 

  • A bachelors’ degree in Human Resources / Organisational Psychology / related. 
  • A minimum of 3+ years of relevant work experience. 
  • Experience working in a scaling tech company with exposure to either an all-remote or hybrid environment. 
  • Experience using technology to automate processes, such as an HRIS, Project Management and/or Performance Management systems
  • Ability to work within a distributed team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment. 
  • You have experience in the full employee life cycle. 
  • Strong problem solving and organisational skills - able to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic and occasionally ambiguous environment. 

Your roles and responsibilities: 

  • Aligning our people practices with our business objectives and company goals. 
  • Shaping foundational people processes by finding the perfect balance of employee experience, efficiency, and budget. 
  • Maintaining the employee handbook and recommending new approaches, policies, and procedures. 
  • Acting as first point of contact for all employee queries about HR related issues.  
  • Own and champion our Human Resources Information System (BambooHR). 
  • Responsible for onboarding and offboarding of employees. 
  • Responsible for all communication from the People Team. 
  • Organise and maintain personnel records. 
  • Prepare HR documents such as employment contracts and onboarding documents. 
  • Create regular reports and presentations on HR metrics. 
  • Provide support in other activities in People Operations as needed. 
  • Support in industrial relations processes. 
  • Administration support for the People Operations Team.

  • Work ethic. You possess a strong willingness to work hard and sometimes long hours to get the job done. You have a track record of working hard.
