The Role

Otter is looking for a Data Analyst to join our Sales & Growth Operations team. You will be responsible for generating insights from data to help drive our global commercial priorities. The ideal candidate will have strong mathematical, statistical, and programming expertise, and also curiosity and creativity to help us frame problems in new and innovative ways. As you mine, interpret, and clean our data, we will rely on you to ask questions, connect the dots, and uncover opportunities that lie hidden within.

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Work as the lead data strategist, identifying, sourcing, and integrating new data sets that can be leveraged to drive commercial success across Otter’s global business.
  • Identify relevant data sources and sets to mine for Otter’s business needs, and collect large structured and unstructured datasets and variables
  • Build and maintain a database of prospective customers, through API and other sourcing techniques; update the database on a regular basis
  • Conduct enrichment of datasets, such as joining geospatial data onto customer data sets to help drive prioritization of our growth, marketing, and sales activities
  • Devise and utilize algorithms and models to mine big data stores, perform data and error analysis to improve models, and clean, match and validate data for uniformity and accuracy
  • Analyze data for trends and patterns, and interpret data with a clear objective in mind
  • Create & deploy analytical tools to enable sales & operations teams to make informed decisions.
  • Design and implement metrics-based models to identify the right customers to upsell or cross-sell products/features with maximum conversion probability.
  • Represent Otter’s Sales, Marketing, and Operational teams on company-wide data initiatives such as the development of a customer data platform/lake.

 

What you need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, statistics, applied mathematics, or a related discipline
  • Experienced in Python, SQL, Google Sheets,  and 1+ data visualization tools (e.g., Google Looker, Streamlit, Dash, etc)
  • Intermediate to advanced Python; experience with DS/analytics-related Python libraries (such as Pandas, Numpy, BeautifulSoup, Matplotlib, Scikit-Learn, etc) an asset.

 

Nice to haves:

  • Experience with predictive analytics in a B2B environment (e.g., predicting customer churn).
  • Previous experience working with cloud platforms (e.g, GCP, AWS) to deploy applications.
  • Experience with DS/analytics-related Python libraries is an asset.
  • Experience building web-based analytics/data apps.
  • Previous experience working in geospatial data analysis.
