The ideal individual in this role will be a strong design engineer with demonstrated experience in developing a broad resume of bridge engineering for public clients at the local, state and federal agency levels. Reporting to the bridge discipline lead, the selected candidate will be responsible to assimilate, promote and advocate Otak’s strategic growth in keeping with our mission and vision. This person will be responsible for increasing Otak’s technical capabilities in bridge engineering. The ideal candidate will be tasked with providing design engineering skills as a senior engineer within the organization; leading junior engineers with mentorship and technical advancement; supplement of skills provided by other bridge engineering personnel; and providing original bridge engineering solutions on a variety of structure types and configurations for new and rehabilitation projects.
Based out of the Portland or Vancouver offices, this position requires building Otak’s presence in local agency, and WSDOT transportation design in Washington. The successful candidate will have a diverse background with strong design and management experience and is capable to lead staff development. Demonstrated experience working within transportation projects from conception through construction across a variety of delivery methods is desirable.
What you'll do:
Design and manage regional bridge and structures designs by effectively using codes and research data
Manage financial data and delivery schedules with ongoing assessment of results, leading to growth and profitability
Provide technical leadership on a team of engineers in the design of bridge projects
- Assist in the implementation of a company-wide Transportation QA/QC plan
What you have:
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering required
Licensed Oregon and/or Washington Professional Engineer required
A minimum of 10 years of experience in public highway bridge design and construction support projects
Ongoing relationships with Washington state agencies and WSDOT
Strong communications skills
