Regional Vice President of Finance 

 

Job Summary: 

 

The Regional Vice President of Finance will be expected to lead finance and accounting functions across the region’s Operating Companies and will partner with the Group President and Operating Company management teams to develop and execute financial strategies that lead to overall financial performance enhancement. 

 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

 

Financial Reporting 

  • Ensure quality and timeliness of monthly Operating Company financial reporting packages 
  • Aggregate and streamline monthly regional financial reporting packages for review with Group President and Astra and Orion management teams 
  • Assist in the development and implementation of appropriate accounting policies for Operating Companies under US GAAP 
  • Establish and maintain appropriate financial controls within the region and review Operating Company transactions for appropriateness, completeness, and compliance with US GAAP 
  • Be the primary point of contact regarding financial matters with external parties for the region, including exposure to our audit, tax, and legal partners 
  • Drive Operating Company budgeting process and ensure adherence to company deadlines 
  • Establish appropriate KPI dashboards for Group and Operating Company Presidents and provide thought leadership on drivers of financial performance 
  • Identify areas to improve Operating Company efficiency, productivity, and profitability 
  • Partner with Operating Company leadership to manage cash flow and treasury functions, ensuring availability of funds for daily operations, investments, and capital expenditures 
  • Assess and manage financial risks, identifying potential areas of concern and implementing risk mitigation strategies across regional Operating Companies 

 

Team Building and Mentoring 

  • Coach and mentor Operating Company finance teams on US GAAP and Astra accounting standards and financial policies 
  • Partner with Group President, Operating Company President, and Corporate Finance team to recruit and retain A-level talent in Operating Company finance teams 
  • Evaluate current state of Operating Company accounting teams and make recommendations for upgrades, additions, or replacements where necessary 
  • Serve as a business partner with Operating Company hiring managers to develop effective sourcing and recruitment strategies that deliver top-tier results 
  • Create and maintain current job descriptions, hiring practices, standards of performance, and performance evaluation instruments 
  • Conduct presentations and training, host meetings, and participate in organizational, regional and/or Operating Company events as required 

 

M&A Support and Integrations Expertise 

  • Participate in M&A process and provide financial guidance to Operating Company and Astra leadership teams during diligence 
  • Partner with Astra and Operating Company leadership teams to improve the financial integration process post-closing 
  • Complete all financial process mapping and ensure deliverance of clean financials within 90 days 
  • Evaluate newly-acquired Operating Company financial policies, procedures, and teams and make improvement recommendations as necessary 
  • Coach newly-acquired Operating Company financial teams on Astra accounting standards and improve quality and cadence of financial reporting post-closing 

 

Required Skills/Abilities: 

  • Thorough understanding of US GAAP and financial best practices 
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc). 
  • Proficiency with financial and accounting software tools (FloQast, Sage Intaact, Domo, etc.) 
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills with strong presentation and leadership abilities 
  • Excellent interpersonal, coaching, and negotiation skills 
  • Extreme attention to detail and ability to multitask 
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills 

 

Education and Experience: 

  1. 10+ years of accounting and finance experience, including direct experience performing and leading full-cycle accounting processes 
  1. Demonstrated progressive financial leadership experience, with in-depth knowledge of financial modeling, forecasting, and budgeting 
  1. Experience in a highly-acquisitive, sponsor-backed company with decentralized management structure 
  1. Demonstrated ability to evaluate and coach/mentor teammates to a higher standard 
  1. Experience designing, developing, and supporting organizational financial improvement projects 
  1. Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance; related master’s degree and/or CPA license strongly preferred 
  1. Experience in skilled trades industry strongly preferred, but not required
