Origis Energy is seeking a Manager or Senior Manager Development Engineering to provide technical support and management for early-stage conceptual design and optimization in renewable energy projects as they flow from inception through EPC contracting. The role involves coordinating and contracting with engineering consultants, maintaining internal layouts, and providing technical input on engineering reports, studies, and technical exhibits. The Manager or Senior Manager Development Engineering will support Engineering consultant SOW, Bid Set design reviews, and EPC technical exhibit redline reviews. The ideal candidate will have extensive technical knowledge in Utility Scale / BESS projects, with a solid understanding of PV performance modeling tools like PVsyst/PlantPredict. This position reports to the Sr. Director of Development Engineering or another senior management personnel that the Sr. Director of Development Engineering may designate.  

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide technical support and management for early-stage conceptual design and optimization for renewable energy projects.
  • Monitor and track progress of development activities as projects advance toward EPC contracting.
  • Maintain and coordinate updates to internal conceptual layouts based on new information from Topo survey, environmental studies, etc.
  • Track engineering changes that would impact project budget, schedule, and performance.
  • Contract and manage design engineering consultants to prepare Bid set level design packages for EPC RFP bids.
  • Support reviews of 3rd party reports/studies/deliverables, contract documents including technical exhibits scopes and standards and updates to the same as EPC contractors redline them, coordinating with our Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to ensure proper diligence.
  • Liaise with Independent Engineers to support finance close and Full Notice to Proceed.
  • Analyze complex engineering problems and offer effective and efficient resolutions in a timely manner while working on several projects at once.
  • Serve as an interface between the Engineering group and internal clients including Development, Construction, Operations, Estimating, Technology, and Procurement to facilitate interdepartmental relations.
  • Remain up to date with new technologies, regulatory conditions, industry best practices, and relevant standards.
  • Work in a team to develop and improve the system standards. 
  • Work closely with the team to define company processes and metrics.
  • Build a quality culture of continuous improvement that enhances company efficiency and engineering quality. 
  • Perform other duties and special projects, as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • A degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or another related engineering science, with working knowledge within several fields of engineering. 
  • Minimum of 7 years of engineering experience in the Utility Scale / BESS industry.
  • Extensive technical experience in photovoltaic and energy storage projects.
  • Experience with photovoltaic performance modeling tools, preferably PVsyst.
  • Knowledge of PV/BESS plant design and optimization, national electrical codes, and industry standard codes.
  • Willingness to travel at least 25% of the time.
  • Ability to manage internal and external partners effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience managing schedules using tools such as Smartsheet or MS Project, with a good understanding of critical path methodology.

 

Location   Preference for San Diego, California; Austin, Texas; Miami, Florida 

Remote (will be considered based on job and industry-specific experience)

Travel  Up to 10% travel as needed

Job Level  Senior Manager - no direct reports

 

The expected starting pay range for this role is outlined below, in addition to a competitive annual bonus and benefits, 401K, etc. This range is an estimate and base pay may be above or below the ranges provided as our individual pay is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, location, experience, education & certifications, as well as performance. 
California pay range
$140,000$170,000 USD
