Position Description

The Senior Project Accountant position, reporting to the Director of Accounting and other Company partners, will ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial information, implementing, and maintaining internal controls, and providing strategic financial guidance to support the company's growth and success.

The Senior Project Accountant is a regular, full-time position, and is eligible for our generous employee benefits package, including employer paid health insurance, paid time off, a 401(k) plan with employer matching contributions, and other great benefits.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the preparation and analysis of project financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulatory requirements.
  • Responsible for month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation for projects and associated entities.
  • Work closely with project developers and project controls team to ensure costs and known risks are accurately recorded, assist with budgeting and forecasting.
  • Review and maintain accounting internal controls are being followed to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with financial regulations and policies.
  • Collaborate with accounting and tax team to facilitate internal and external annual audits and tax filings.
  • Review complex contracts for cost, recording proper accounting entries and reporting compliance.
  • Support project finance with cost validations and equity and loan financing.
  • Support company ASC 606 (revenue), ASC 842 (leases) and ASC 815 (Hedge Transactions) compliance and review. Analyze financial data and performance metrics to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
  • Support strategic decision-making by providing financial analysis, modeling, and recommendations to senior management.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field..
  • A minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in renewable energy, construction industry or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
  • Experience with project finance, complex loan structures, multiple entities, tax equity and construction accounting.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (SAP), financial reporting software (OneStream, Essbase) and advanced MS Excel skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with colleagues at all levels of the organization.
  • Proven leadership and team management abilities.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Commitment to sustainability and passion for the renewable energy industry.
  • Expertise and understanding of relevant tax and GAAP regulations, contractual matters and analytical models.
  • CPA or advanced degree (e.g., Master of Accounting) is a plus
