Multi-site Dermatology Group Seeks Senior Accountant
Optima Dermatology is recruiting a Senior Accountant to join our Practice Support Center, based in Portsmouth, NH.
Position Details:
The Staff Accountant role is responsible for the timely and accurate application of incoming cash transactions, managing travel and expense reimbursements, recording inventory, and calculating and filing sales and use taxes as well as property taxes. This role is critical in ensuring the integrity of cash flow data and supporting the financial health of the organization. Key responsibilities include reconciling customer payments, processing cash receipts, and verifying payment accuracy against invoices. By leveraging analytical skills and attention to detail, this position contributes to the overall financial stability and operational efficiency of the company.
Responsibilities:
- Accurately apply cash receipts to customer accounts and invoices.
- Process various payment methods, including checks and electronic transfers.
- Reconcile cash received against recorded amounts and resolve outstanding payment issues.
- Perform daily bank reconciliations to ensure accurate transaction recording.
- Oversee banking transactions, such as wire transfers and ACH payments.
- Monitor cash balances and cash flow for operational liquidity.
- Prepare reports on cash application activities and cash flow analysis.
- Analyze collection trends and communicate insights to management.
- Collaborate with banking partners to resolve issues and enhance processes.
- Process and reconcile credit card transactions related to travel expenses.
- Manage expense reimbursement requests, ensuring compliance with company policies and accuracy in documentation.
- Record inventory transactions at month-end close to maintain accurate inventory levels.
- Analyze and allocate prepaid expenses as necessary, ensuring proper recording and compliance.
- Process and record rebates from vendors, ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance with agreements.
- Review and record accrued expenses, ensuring they are accurately recognized in the correct periods.
- Calculate, file, and ensure compliance with sales and use tax, property taxes, and real estate taxes.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, GAAP and SOX controls.
- Maintain organized documentation of cash transactions and correspondence.
- Identify and implement improvements in cash application procedures.
- Support audits by providing necessary documentation and reports.
- Review financial statements for accuracy, including balance sheets, income statements and cash flow statements.
- Assist in monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including journal entries and reconciliations.
- Communicate with customers to resolve payment inquiries and discrepancies.
- Contribute to ad-hoc projects as required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
- Previous experience as a staff accountant or relevant role in accounting
- Strong understanding of GAAP and internal controls.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with accounting software, preferably Sage or similar platforms.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
