ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY:

As a part of the Finance team, our Controller will be a steward of our financial health and ensure our ability to track and hit company targets. You’ll work on everything from day-to-day accounting tasks to creating new processes and workflows as our organization continues to scale, as well as own month-end close tasks, support financial audits and much more. The ideal candidate is detail oriented, organized, ambitious and works well both independently and collaboratively. This position will report to the Head of Finance and will have frequent interaction with all departments across the organization. 

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Oversee all accounting functions, including the monthly close process, accounts payable, payroll, financial reporting and tax planning & compliance 
  • Set the direction, priorities and workload balancing for your team and often have multiple projects under your supervision
  • Partner with our Commerce Engineering team to build automated systems to enable efficiencies across accounting processes
  • Provide guidance to our M&A team on potential acquisitions and flag concerns during the diligence process
  • Prepare analytics & business reporting packages over financial results on a monthly basis and report on variances versus prior periods to efficiently report results to upper management and internal business partners

WHO YOU ARE:

  • You thrive in fast-paced environments.  At this stage we’re still learning. You will iterate with engineers, analysts and product managers to focus on high impact work.
  • You’ve done it before.  You’ve worked with messy data, conducted principled research and shipped models to production. Your experience will help us avoid pitfalls and move faster.
  • You are strategic. You’re focused on where you’re going and build the strategies and plans to achieve the goal. You’re not afraid to admit something didn’t work and have backup plans brewing for your next test.
  • You are analytically rigorous. You have a deep bias towards using data and analyses to drive decisions. Your second language is performance KPIs and you know your numbers and the inputs needed to continue improving those KPI metrics.

WHAT YOU HAVE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Accounting or Finance
  • 8+ years of related experience required with a mixture of public and private experience preferred
  • In-depth knowledge of U.S. GAAP
  • Experience in high-growth consumer goods and/or E-Commerce (preferred)
  • Experience working with various systems, including but not limited to NetSuite, bill.com, Shopify
  • Prior experience with Netsuite or implementing a company-wide ERP tool.
  • Experience building and managing teams
