ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY:
We are seeking an Investment / Diligence Lead to support our acquisition efforts. As a part of the Pricing and Diligence team set out to reimagine M&A, you will be a critical part of our company’s growth. You will be evaluating companies and making investment decisions that directly impact the health of our portfolio of e-commerce brands.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
- Lead and scale an Investment & Diligence team that supports the next stage of OpenStore’s acquisition growth. You’ll manage a team of analysts to evaluate deals, make investment recommendations, and structure deals to ensure return. You’ll refine the tools, playbooks, and templates to empower your team to uphold a high bar of excellence.
- Shape the acquisition strategy. You’ll evolve the acquisition strategy by feeding learnings and improvements into the playbook. You’ll refine, test, and iterate with the goal of developing robust, yet agile policies and processes.
- Represent OpenStore to sellers. You will tactfully balance delivering a fast and easy sale experience and protecting the company against the risk of information asymmetry.
- Work cross-functionally. Through informal influence and strong relationship building, you’ll effectively collaborate with colleagues across finance, legal, marketing, operations, product, data science, and engineering.
WHO YOU ARE:
- You are experienced in M&A or general investment underwriting. You have expertise in financial modeling, investment due diligence, and return / risk exposure analysis. Your past deal experience will enable you to focus on the data points that matter most and help OpenStore avoid unknowns.
- You are analytically rigorous. You have a deep bias towards using data and analyses to drive decisions. You love developing frameworks to create repeatable, defensible decisions.
- You are organized, conscientious, and demonstrate judicious decision-making. You pride yourself in both your breadth and depth of thinking - no detail is too small.
- You are a leader. You are able to inspire, coach, and lead a team of analysts. You are able to scale both up and down – being strategic and in the weeds when needed.
- You thrive in fast-paced environments. At this stage we’re still learning. You will iterate with the rest of the team to continuously evolve and improve the Diligence playbook.
- You take pride in your strong sense of ownership. Your ability to execute and eliminate blockers helps you and the entire company move fast with confidence.
WHAT YOU HAVE:
- 5+ years of experience in investment banking, consulting, law, private equity, venture capital, or other investing firms
- 2+ years managing others
- Prior transaction due diligence experience required
- Prior operational experience at a high growth company or in e-commerce a plus
- Track record of managing a team and project managing multiple complex projects
