🙌 The Role
We are looking for a Cyber Operations Manager to play a critical role in maintaining the Confidentiality, Integrity, and Availability of data at Oodle Financial Services Limited (t/a Oodle Car Finance).
This role will be responsible for managing day-to-day 1st line cyber security operations, working closely with third parties to support cyber threat detection and response. You will also lead the execution of remediation activities following the identification of vulnerabilities and security incidents, ensuring Oodle remains protected against evolving threats.
What you’ll be getting up to:
Strategy, Policies, Reporting, and Oversight
- Support the Head of Information Security in developing, implementing, and maintaining an information security strategy, policies, and related change programs, plans, and processes.
- Assist in providing ongoing oversight, management, performance measurement, and course correction of information security activities, ensuring compliance with all applicable external and internal requirements and mitigating risk in line with Oodle’s risk tolerance.
- Contribute to executive-level reporting by providing data and insights to inform executive briefings and assurance reports.
Risk Management, Incident Management, and Regulatory Engagement
- Support the development and implementation of a robust risk management framework, including threat modelling, vulnerability assessments, and risk assessments aligned with FCA expectations.
- Lead and coordinate responses to security incidents, such as phishing attacks, malware infections, and data breaches, in compliance with FCA incident reporting requirements.
- Conduct thorough investigations to determine the root cause of incidents, implement remediation measures, and integrate lessons learned into future security improvements.
Management of 1st Line Cyber Security Function
- Oversee day-to-day operations of the 1st line cyber security function, including security operations, security engineering, and security technology deployments.
- Ensure the implementation and maintenance of security controls, such as firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, endpoint security solutions, and data loss prevention systems.
- Collaborate with third-party service providers, such as managed security service providers (MSSPs), to manage policies, processes, and security technologies (e.g., email and web security gateways) that monitor operations, detect cyber threats, and respond to unauthorized events and incidents in line with established playbooks.
- Supervise penetration testing and vulnerability scanning activities, ensuring timely remediation of identified risks.
- Provide technical security guidance to project teams, embedding security considerations throughout the software development lifecycle (Security by Design).
- Maintain oversight of identity and access management controls.
You’ll be a great fit if you have:
- A minimum of 4 years proven experience in a 1st line cyber security operations role.
- Evidence of successfully implementing 1st line cyber security technologies and processes within a regulated financial services environment.
- Experience with incident response methodologies and tools.
- Knowledge of threat intelligence analysis and threat hunting techniques.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience with security information and event management (SIEM) systems.
- Commitment to fostering and embedding a strong cyber security risk culture.
- Ability to handle multiple competing priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Desirable:
- Certified Information Security qualification (e.g. CISSP, CISA, CISM).
- Experience in handling cyber crisis and cyber incidents that have materialised into data breaches.
- Experience with cloud security (primarily Azure and AWS).
- Experience with data loss prevention (DLP) solutions.
