Our mission is to be the UK’s simplest way to find and finance a great value used car. We want to put car buyers back in control and make the car buying experience as simple, straightforward, and joyful as possible as car buyers deserve oodles of car buying confidence!

We are a team of 450 people located in Manchester, Oxford and London. Over the past 8 years, we’ve supported 10,000’s of customers on their car buying journey. 

The Role

Copywriter

As a midweight copywriter in our Marketing team you will be delivering unique, engaging marketing content that shapes the voice of our brand, delights both our customers and dealer partners, driving organic traffic & leads for Oodle. You’ll work across a variety of channels, including social media, customer communications, product UX, our website, and articles ensuring our message is clear, engaging, and consistent. 

In this role, you’ll be responsible for bringing our brand to life through words, whether it's creating social posts, writing informative articles and webpages, or helping the product and operational teams craft user-friendly UX copy. The successful candidate will have an ear to the ground within the industry, creating content that we can amplify in order to solidify Oodle as a thought leader in the space.

You will be creative and data-driven to identify trends and SEO opportunities as well as a passionate self-starter. You will be an excellent writer with previous experience in a content-focused role. You should have a thorough understanding of on-page SEO and how to develop SEO content. 

Key Accountabilities  

  • Turning technical information into simple, compelling messaging and content 
  • Putting Oodle customers and dealer partners at the heart of everything you do with a focus on delivering simple, consistent and engaging content. 
  • Writing content that drives organic traffic and leads – including video scripts, articles and SEO pages. 
  • Reviewing, amending, and approving customer-facing content across other business areas  
  • Analysing data – from keyword research, user studies & website analytics – you should be comfortable using data to inform and refine our strategies.  
  • Working with the internal design team to create first-class content that grows Oodle’s brand awareness and reputation.  
  • Liaising across Marketing and Compliance to ensure copy adheres to all applicable regulations and requirements.
  • Collaborating across multiple teams - both internal and external & cross departments 

Key attributes, skills & knowledge  

Essential  

  • Experience in a content role.
  • Excellent communication and copywriting skills
  • Able to fit your writing style to Oodle’s tone of voice and target market.
  • Knowledgeable and passionate about content & SEO 
  • Able to communicate with different audiences, both internally and externally 
  • Self-assured, driven, able to make decisions as well as great teamwork skills. 
  • Strong grasp of English grammar, spelling, structure and punctuation 
  • Eye for detail, as well as excellent proofreading and editing skills. 
  • Familiar with industry trends and competition 
  • Excellent planning, organisational and time management skills 
  • Adaptable and able to grow with the role.
  • Experience working with CMS tools, Google Analytics (or other SEO/Analytical tools), Video content and Social posting. 
  • Stakeholder management – ability to develop excellent cross-functional relationships at all levels. 

Desirable: 

  • Good understanding of the automotive landscape  
  • Experience working in a regulated industry.
  • Degree in English, Marketing, Journalism or similar

You may also have experience in Fin-tech, a start-up or other fast-growing company.
