Are you passionate about Cloud Native systems and looking to take on your next role in growing Fintech startup in Cardiff? We’re hiring an automation focused DevOps Engineer to join our Cardiff team and work closely with our wider teams in Oxford and London.

What You’ll Be Doing

Reporting to Mark Smithson, you’ll be responsible for managing our cloud infrastructure. We are investing heavily in automation to reduce manual work and support the company’s continuing growth. As well as developing infrastructure code you will work on improving CI and CD pipelines to allow developers to deploy code easily, reliably and safely. Our developers support the systems they develop and you will support them by providing robust observability, monitoring and alerting systems.

Our infrastructure is primarily deployed in AWS, with some components in GCP, managed using Terraform and Ansible.

Our applications make use of a micro-service architecture using the following technologies:

  • Elasticsearch
  • Postgres (RDS)
  • Java
  • Groovy
  • Docker
  • NodeJS
  • React

What We’re Looking For

You must have experience of using and managing a range of AWS Services using infrastructure automation tools - Terraform and Ansible would be perfect. You will be comfortable working at the linux command line and creating bash scripts. You will understand networking and security and how to apply this knowledge in the public cloud.

Ideally, you will come from a development background and have experience developing systems or tools using different languages. Experience with Python, Java, Groovy or JavaScript will get you off to a running start.

Working as part of team, excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential, and you will be able to explain complex technologies to other developers and business people. You make sure you understand the impact of your work and plan you work to deliver the best outcomes.

Experience in our tech stack, GCP, Kubernetes and Istio would be a big plus.
