WHAT YOU WILL DO

onX is seeking a Pricing and Packaging Analyst with a passion for Business Intelligence and financial analysis.  As part of the onX Business Intelligence team, you will be responsible for developing analytic capabilities to support and enable rapid growth and influence the Business Intelligence function throughout the organization. This role is expected to work at a strategic level, developing analytic insights to prioritize resources and champion data-driven decision-making. The pricing and packaging analyst must be passionate about working with data, driven to dive deep, and striving to socialize business impacts to guide the broader organization.

The ideal candidate is adept at sourcing, developing, and employing datasets to explore product and operations optimization opportunities. They must have prior experience using a variety of data analysis methods and tools, as well as a proven ability to drive business results with their data-based insights. They must be comfortable working with various stakeholders and functional teams. The right candidate will be passionate about discovering solutions hidden in large datasets and working with stakeholders to improve business outcomes. This person will report to the Business Intelligence Manager.

As an onX Senior Pricing and Packaging Analyst, your day to day responsibilities would look like:

  • Act as the central point of contact for all pricing-related experimentation. This person will be deeply involved in experiment design and analysis to help optimize our pricing strategy.
  • Lead the creation and iteration of pricing and packaging strategies, utilizing quantitative and qualitative research methodologies to align with customer needs and maximize revenue.
  • Pilot insightful pricing analytical efforts to uncover opportunities to improve profit in the short and long term. 
  • Design and execute A/B tests to evaluate the impact of pricing changes on customer acquisition and retention.
  • Develop financial impact models, conduct scenario simulations, and evaluate pricing sensitivities in partnership with the finance team. Use methods like conjoint analysis, Gabor-Granger, and Van Westendorp price sensitivity measurement to support decision-making.
  • Analyze data on pricing performance, including metrics like customer acquisition, churn, and lifetime value, to inform pricing adjustments.
  • Work closely with sales, marketing, and product teams to align pricing strategies with broader business goals.
  • Be a leading influencer in evolving the organization to value-based pricing.
  • Provide other non-pricing related support for the Finance and Accounting team. 
  • Conduct and manage comprehensive market research, including consumer segmentation, competitive benchmarking, and conjoint analysis to derive optimal pricing and packaging structures.
  • Create and maintain pricing models to evaluate the financial impact of pricing changes or new pricing strategies.
  • Establish guidelines for discounts, promotions, and special pricing to ensure profitability and market competitiveness.
  • Gather and analyze customer feedback to adjust pricing models in response to customer expectations and satisfaction levels.
  • Generate regular reports for stakeholders on pricing performance, trends, and recommendations for future pricing strategies.

LOCATION

onX has created a thriving distributed workforce community across several US locations. This position can only be performed from an onX corporate office, “Basecamp,” or “Talent Cluster.”

  • Corporate Offices: onX’s was founded in Montana with offices in Missoula and Bozeman. If you prefer to work in an office at least part of the time this is a great option.
  • Basecamps: onX’s Basecamps are established virtual workforce communities where a sizable number of distributed team members group for work, volunteering, socializing, and adventure.  
    • Our current Basecamps are located within a 90-mile radius of the following: Austin, TX; Charlotte, NC; Denver, CO; Minneapolis, MN; Portland, OR; Salt Lake City, UT; and Seattle, WA.
  • Talent Clusters: onX’s Talent Cluster locations are smaller, emerging communities of distributed team members.
    • Our current Talent Clusters are located within a 60-mile radius of the following: Boise, ID; Charleston, SC; Dallas/Fort Worth, TX; Phoenix, AZ; Richmond, VA; Spokane, WA; and Vermont.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in financial analytics, with hands-on experience in forecasting, pricing models & strategy, recurring revenue, and subscription businesses.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Data Science, Business, or related field. A Master’s degree or additional certifications in analytics tools is a plus.
  • Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with subscription-based business models, pricing structures, and customer lifecycle metrics.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in analytics tools such as Tableau, Excel, SQL, Python, or similar. Experience with A/B testing platforms and statistical modeling is a must.
  • Financial Acumen: Knowledge of financial modeling, revenue forecasting, subscriptions, packaging, and pricing strategy development.
  • Analytical skills: Strong quantitative and analytical skills to translate complex data, identify trends, and make data-driven recommendations. Experience with conjoint analysis, Gabor-Granger, Van Westendorp, and segmentation techniques.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Enthusiastic collaborator with Finance, Product Management, and Operation teams
  • Market Research Skills: Ability to conduct market research, competitor analysis, and customer segmentation.
  • Attention to Detail: Accuracy in pricing calculations, data handling, and maintaining detailed pricing documentation.
  • Project Management: Organizational skills to manage projects, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and meet deadlines.
  • Adaptability: Ability to adapt to changes in pricing strategy or business needs in a fast-paced tech environment.
  • Statistical Knowledge: Understanding of statistical techniques for A/B testing, regression analysis, and forecasting.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify and solve pricing-related challenges creatively and effectively.
  • Permanent US work authorization is a condition of employment with onX.

ADDED BONUSES

Though not required, we would be thrilled to consider candidates with any of the following:

  • Working knowledge and high proficiency with reporting and analysis tools such as Looker, BigQuery and Tableau.
  • Working knowledge of GitHub and version control best practices.
  • Working knowledge of statistical programming packages, such as R or Python, or other programming experience. 
  • Experience working in subscription analysis, including customer acquisition, retention, churn and lifetime value analysis. 
  • Understanding of Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) solutions and processes to centralize and standardize data coming from one or more source systems.

COMPENSATION

onX is committed to compensating all employees fairly and equitably for their contributions. For this position, applicants can expect to make between $105,000 to $130,000 upon hire. The pay range will vary based on experience, skills, certifications, and education among other factors as required in the job description. In addition, full-time onX employees are eligible for a grant of common share options with a vesting schedule and a potential annual bonus of 10% based on company performance.
