Founded in 2006, One Acre Fund supplies smallholder farmers with the agricultural services they need to make their farms vastly more productive. We provide quality farm supplies on credit, delivered within walking distance of farmers’ homes, and agricultural trainings to improve harvests. We measure our success by our ability to make farmers more prosperous: On average, farmers harvest 50 percent more food after working with One Acre Fund.
We are growing quickly. We currently serve more than 800,000 farm families in Eastern and Southern Africa, with more than 7,500 full-time staff, and we aim to serve 1 million farm families by 2020.
Uganda is one of our newest countries of operation. Today we have grown and now serve 8,000 farmers with a strategic plan to serve 25,000 farmers by 2022. One Acre Fund offers farmers hybrid maize seed and fertilizer, as well as add-on products such as solar lights and storage bags (PICS). Our program has proven impactful – every year, we weigh thousands of harvests and measure more than 50-100% percent average gain in farm income per acre.
Our work centers in the eastern region of Uganda, primarily in Jinja, Kamuli and Iganga districts. The country has two major growing cycles per year based on seasonal rainfall. Our Uganda country office is located in Jinja.
