Founded in 2006, One Acre Fund supplies 1 million smallholder farmers with the agricultural services they need to make their farms vastly more productive. Our 8,000+ team is drawn from diverse backgrounds and professions. With operations across six core countries in Africa, we make farmers more prosperous by providing quality farm supplies on credit, delivered within walking distance of farmers’ homes, and agricultural training to improve harvests. On average, the farmers we serve harvest 50 percent more food after working with One Acre Fund.

About the Role

You will coordinate the transportation of essential resources to all OAF NG districts, warehouses, and field sites. Your main goal is to ensure that these resources are delivered smoothly from central warehouses, while also prioritizing efficiency and cost-effectiveness throughout the entire market.

Responsibilities

  • Streamline Transportation and Delivery Operations
    • Utilize strategic planning and efficient scheduling methods to improve distribution schedules for delivery trucks.
    • Implement data-driven strategies to enhance delivery schedules based on information collected from delivery points.
    • Coordinate with transporters and warehouse personnel to resolve transportation issues and ensure prompt delivery.
    • Monitor and evaluate transporter performance, providing important insights for decision-making.
  • Manage transport and deliveries costs
    • Analyze transportation costs and identify opportunities for cost reduction.
    • Support in the preparation and monitoring of transportation budgets and suggest adjustments.
    • Implement cost-cutting measures such as negotiation of rates and optimizing transportation routes.
  • Improve and ensure customer satisfaction
    • Conduct regular audits of transportation processes to identify areas for improvement and conduct regular customer satisfaction surveys to obtain feedback and identify areas for improvement in the delivery process.
    • Collaborate with different teams to implement process enhancements and ensure agreement towards improving transportation processes and customer satisfaction.
  • Facilitate and encourage team leadership and development
    • Lead a group of professionals in logistics, promoting communication and a positive work culture.
    • Assign clear responsibilities and communicate expectations to team members.
    • Promote team sustainability and contentment, address conflicts, and cultivate a harmonious and cooperative team environment.
    • Allocate responsibilities among team members to meet objectives within specified timelines.

Qualifications

Across all roles, these are the general qualifications we look for. For this role specifically, you will have:

  • At least 2 years of experience in Logistics/Fleet management.
  • A Bachelor's Degree or equivalent Logistics/Supply Chain Management, Economics or other related disciplines.
  • Knowledge of different logistics strategies and models for route optimization, delivery and cost optimization.
  • Familiarity with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems
  • Knowledge of contract development, management, and administration, including drafting terms and conditions, ensuring compliance, and handling contract disputes.
  • The ability to identify and assess potential risks in logistics processes, develop risk mitigation strategies, and ensure business continuity.
  • Google workspace proficiency.
  • English & Hausa proficiency.
