Job Overview
The Field Application engineer will be responsible for providing application and design support in West India region territory. Partner with sales and product marketing , secure Design IN and Win’s for DC-DC and AC-DC products across Telecom, Industrial and Automotive customers.
This position reports to the India Sales Leader and will be based remotely in Mumbai, India.
Responsibilities:
- Utilize knowledge of the OEM power supply marketplace including typical customer requirements, competitor offerings and application trends in the networking, telecom, servers / storage, and industrial markets to provide technical expertise to customers.
- Support the assigned customers in a technical sales capacity and provide assistance to the customer in identifying new opportunities.
- Coordinate activities with the local sales manager and provide technical guidance to establish sales strategies at the assigned accounts.
- Customer advocate with the ability to communicate Voice of Customer needs, product gaps and concerns to the executive management level.
- Provide training to field sales personnel (reps and distributors) as appropriate.
- Present technology roadmap seminars to customers and communicate the customers feedback to product management.
- Maintain knowledge of market trends, competitive actions, product needs and customer base.
- Create new product technical requirements, work closely with R&D to guide product development, prepare data sheets and other product technical documentation, help develop product presentations and providing technical product support to customers
- Understand customer applications to determine new product features and performance needs
- Analyze competitor products and being aware of the competitive landscape
- Help develop the product and technology roadmaps
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics and Communication Engineering
- Minimum 3 years of experience in power electronics design of SMPS and related technical assistance to external customers.
- Position requires the ability to travel an average of 50% of the time during a typical workweek.
Desired Characteristics:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience within the Power Electronics industry.
- The basic power topologies, basic control mechanisms, common EMC concepts, common safety requirements, efficiency/heating/thermal-derating considerations.
- Ability to understand and implement customer and industry standards
- Demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills with senior management
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
- In-depth knowledge of OEM product lines and markets (Datacom, telecom, defense etc.)
- Excellent problem solving along with critical thinking skills is desirable.
- The Candidate should have experience handling bigger Telecom OEM’S like Reliance Jio , Bharti Airtel , VVDN etc..
- The candidate should be capable of schematic entry therefore should have experience in working with schematic entry software like Cadence.
- High proficiency in using applicable software, Microsoft Outlook and Office, and sales empowerment tools (experience in SFDC is a plus)
- Sound power electronics knowledge including AC / DC and DC / DC topologies; standard approaches used in analog and power supply circuit design; understanding of how AC / DC and DC / DC products are used in OEM systems; understanding of digital interface protocols (such as I2C and PMBus) and how they are used in power supplies.
- Understanding of agency requirements that apply to power conversion products such as safety agency standards; Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) standards; input Surge requirements and harmonics standards
- Lab skills including familiarity with using basic lab instruments such multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, electronic loads and spectrum analyzers
- Demonstrated strong oral and written communication skills with senior management
- Effective customer presentation skills
- Excellent organizational skills required to meet multi-tasking expectations
- Willing to work independently and be a self-starter
- Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills.
The FAE is required to have a reasonable understanding of switch-mode power converters in 1000V region, 2W to 20kW region, regulated DC outputs, and AC or DC inputs. This understanding should include basic power topologies, basic control mechanisms, common EMC concepts, common safety requirements, efficiency/heating/thermal-derating considerations. There is a requirement for the FAE to establish personal credibility with the customer’s engineers
