About the Strategic Communications team:

We are a dynamic group of professionals who are committed to using the power of communications and advocacy to advance our strategic goals. We work in close partnership with our program teams to build strategic communications into their strategies at the outset. At times, we support program leads on a given impact goal, while other times, we lead the work. We pursue policy levers, narrative and culture change, storytelling, thought leadership, earned, owned and paid media, and other creative channels to shift people’s attitudes and behaviors. We strive to increase our impact and play a role in the change we want to see in the world.

Position Summary:

We are searching for a dedicated, strategic, and dynamic Digital Communications Coordinator to join us.

The successful candidate will lead our approach and grow our reach and engagement across all digital channels. They will successfully plan and implement our digital strategy, with a tactical and strategic lens.

The candidate will run the organization's digital and social media work, including writing, curating, publishing, and editing social media and website content; leading all aspects of newsletter and email campaigns; and crafting other digital and video content.

Their duties will be diverse and multi-faceted, therefore excellent professional skills are vital for this role, including superb written and verbal communication skills, as well as an in-depth knowledge of digital platforms and trends.

How you’ll contribute to our impact:

  • Implement a comprehensive digital communications strategy (social media, website, email marketing, video content), in line with organization-wide goals
  • Lead our online identity across our digital channels and proactively work to expand our presence and engage our target audiences
  • Partner with team members to use digital platforms as part of integrated communications campaigns in support of organizational priorities
  • Identify social media trends and integrate trending content ideas
  • Develop and implement paid social media campaigns that align with broader communications goals
  • Regularly update website and blog content
  • Partner with external vendor to recommend website functionality improvements and to test and implement changes
  • Collaborate with team members and external vendors to produce and share engaging video content
  • Develop content for email blasts and newsletters
  • Track and report on digital trends, metrics, and takeaways related to our digital platforms
  • Collaborate with external graphic designers to plan, develop, and deliver content for digital materials
  • Proofread and copyedit all digital content for clarity, jargon, grammar, spelling, and tone

This is a full-time, salaried position that features competitive pay and benefits, including health care (medical/dental/vision), paid time off, and a generous employer 401k contribution. The salary will be $75,000 in Washington D.C. and $81,000 in Redwood City, CA. While we are currently working in a hybrid capacity, this position will be based out of our Redwood City (CA) or Washington DC offices. Candidates must have a current U.S. work authorization to be considered.

What You'll Bring to the Team:

  • 2-3 years of experience in a digital communications role
  • Experience developing and implementing digital communications strategies
  • Consistent record developing and maintaining an engaging web presence
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills
  • Outstanding time and project management and organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines
  • Talent for planning and running multiple projects concurrently
  • Understanding of digital platforms, best practices, and trends related to websites and mobile to social networks and blogs, including WordPress, MailChimp, Twitter, LinkedIn, Vimeo, Microsoft Office, and Canva
  • Ability to form relationships and to work collaboratively with staff at all levels as well as outside consultants and vendors
  • Passion for purposeful social impact work
  • Alignment with Omidyar Network's values and a dedication to embedding DEI into all aspects of work
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Capable of crafting visually compelling presentations and storytelling
  • Knowledge of email marketing software (e.g., Mailchimp), as well as media and social media monitoring tools
