JOB SUMMARY: 

As a full-time Systems Administrator you will work in a team as well as independently working on Linux based servers, supporting a wide range of services. You will troubleshoot both software and hardware issues as well as participate in an on-call rotation where you will be the main contact for any issues which occur out of hours.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design, Install and maintain services built on various Linux distributions primarily Centos and Ubuntu.
  • Handle service issues reported via our automated alerting platforms and our Operations Center while prioritizing and escalating when necessary.
  • Help to produce documentation of new and existing services and help craft/create new operational procedures to share with other team members.

EXPERIENCE:

  • A strong understanding of overall System/Network security and best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex Linux system issues by performing diagnostics, and analysis.
  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals.
  • A practical knowledge of applications and services that utilize standard protocols.
  • Some Shell scripting / programming experience.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving both end user and operational issues.
  • Developing, teaching and automating Operational processes.
  • An ability to think creatively and communicate accurately.
  • Experience in managing multi-vendor Linux server system installations.

REQUIRED PERSONAL SKILLS:

  • Bilingual Dutch/English. (Working mostly in English throughout the day)
  • A strong sense of personal responsibility.
  • A desire to learn and self-improvement.
  • Excellent interpersonal oral and written communication skills.
  • The ability to manage multiple projects and tasks.
  • Make decisions and solve problems while working under pressure.
  • A Driving license (B Category).

ADDITIONAL SKILLS:

  • Understanding of virtualization/container technologies. Such as Docker, KVM etc.
  • Knowledge of Perl, Python and/or PHP programming techniques as related to Internet applications design, network management and systems management would be useful.
  • Experience writing technical documents and procedures for technical groups.
  • Working knowledge of storage systems (JBOD, RAID, NFS) configuration, systems logging, and exception diagnosis.
  • Knowledge of Elasticsearch, Prometheus, Victoria Metrics would be a plus.

  • Some on site work in our datacenters, both in the Netherlands and internationally.
