About the role

We are seeking an experienced media strategist to work on one of the most recognisable and diverse portfolios of brands in the UK – The National Lottery (TNL)

You would be joining at a time of exiting digital transformation. In Feb 2024, Allwyn UK took over the licence to run The National Lottery. They won a 10-year licence with an ambitious plan to bring new players to the portfolio of National Lottery games by modernising their communications, introducing market leading game innovations and transforming the digital play experience. The National Lottery’s mission is “changing lives every day”. Since the first draw was held in 1994, they have raised over £50 billion for good causes and awarded over 690,000 individual grants to projects and organisations, making a real difference to local communities.

As Strategy Director you will set the strategic direction for several of the game brands within the National Lottery portfolio, working closely with our creative partners, to develop distinctive communication strategies, rooted in audience, cultural & category insight and marketing effectiveness principles.  Media innovation sit at the heart of our strategy, and you will have both the licence, and generous budgets, to develop industry, and even culture shaping ideas.

About you

We are looking for a candidate with extensive marketing & communications experience but welcome a varied background of media agency, creative/integrated agency or in-house brand strategists.

Ideally you would have experience in the entertainment industry and have worked on a portfolio of brands with sizeable annual media budgets.  We are looking for a strategist who can confidently discuss marketing science and effectiveness principles.

The account is fast paced and dynamic, so we are seeking someone who is adaptable, quick on their feet, and importantly is a team player. You will be regularly presenting to senior marketing clients, so competence and gravitas in written and oral storytelling is key.

If you are a lateral thinker, who is curious and collaborative, has their ear to the ground on “what’s hot” in culture and has a great flair for creativity, then we’d love to hear from you.
