Job Summary

Ombud is looking for a Sr. Software Architect who can make an immediate impact building and scaling a production grade intelligent content collaboration platform. In this role, you’ll have the opportunity, freedom and support to help design the next generation of Ombud’s software platform. You’ll get to work across the entire Ombud organization to ensure you have a comprehensive understanding of how our product is used today and how it can continue to scale to support our rapid growth. This role is a hands-on role where you’ll be expected to contribute not only architectural solutions but also jump in to help implement those solutions. This role will report to the Director of Engineering. 

Ombud is being used by tens of thousands of enterprises to accelerate knowledge transfer and commercial execution. You’ll work in a hybrid working environment that allows you to be remote, work from our office (when it is safe again) or both. Our team is located in the heart of downtown Denver with a small, agile team of developers to deliver new features and improvements to our product.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and improve the technology landscape at Ombud, including working with Kubernetes, managing deployment pipelines, supporting AWS infrastructure, and working with multiple databases
  • Full stack web application development in new and cutting edge development frameworks
  • Demonstrate end-to-end ownership of team projects, from planning to implementation to delivery
  • Research and implement technology solutions for reliable, scalable, high-performing services
  • Always be willing to refactor application code for performance and scalability
  • Develop scalable SPAs (Single Page Apps) and APIs that are easy to integrate with
  • Work cross functionally in engineering to ensure all opinions and ideas are being considered when designing solutions
  • Set an example for software engineering best practices and how to embody technical excellence through code reviews and mentorship of engineers
  • Conceptualize and architect solutions based on customer needs and internal capabilities.
  • Raise the bar on sustainable engineering by improving best practices and producing best in class code, documentation, testing, and monitoring.
  • Work closely with Ombud leadership to help the business understand the cost/benefit to architectural decisions

Qualifications

  • 10+ years development experience with backend services or distributed systems, especially within web based applications
  • You've designed and implemented large-scale microservices and distributed systems
  • You value simple design and delighted users
  • We're 100% cloud based at Ombud, so extensive experience with a major cloud provider (AWS, GCP, Azure) is a must
  • Proven track record of operating highly-available systems at significant scale
  • We're a Javascript shop, so hands-on experience with Javascript (React, Nodejs) is required
  • You understand the operational aspects of your system and feel comfortable jumping in to "get your hands dirty" when necessary
  • You are willing to bring new ideas and thought leadership to Ombud and the team
  • Experience in the sales enablement or CRM space is a huge plus, but not a requirement!
