Who we are Seeking:
As a tech lead on the engineering team, you are a seasoned software engineer. This is a hybrid development and technical project management role. You’ll stay hands on with code and architecture, manage a group of software engineers and ship completed projects. You will not be responsible for weekly 1:1s and performance reviews. As the tech lead, you are the champion of best practices for writing well-tested, well-organized, scalable code. You are leading the pod responsible for growing, retaining and engaging our donors. You will spend ⅓ of your time coding, ⅓ of your time managing and ⅓ of your time architecting solutions.
Your pod will engineer solutions to support our data driven decisions. The work will vary. One day the work may involve DBT to generate a model that is needed for the warehouse (Snowflake), while the next day it might be integrating with Shopify to update data, or writing SQL to answer complex business questions. You enjoy working with a modern data tech stack and curious to leverage technology to inform business decisions.
What you’ll do:
Lead and mentor a team of 3-6 software engineers
Support Business Intelligence Analyst by building aggregates and rollups in DBT
Contribute to our existing data pipeline which is built with Fivetran, DBT, SQL, Snowflake, Golang, and Python
Support all the needs of our data warehouse
Write ETL/ELT jobs
Build and manage data pipelines
Some technologies we use that you should be comfortable with DBT, Golang, SQL, Snowflake, Python, Fivetran, ECS, SNS, SQS, Cloudwatch, Terraform, PostgreSQL, Bash, and Tableau
What you’ll bring:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or scientific discipline; and 5+ years in software engineering
You’re comfortable working with ad spend data from Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Ad Networks and Affiliates
Hands-on experience with e-commerce systems
Understanding the tradeoffs between structured vs unstructured data models
Experience working with data warehouses, NoSQL and relational databases
Great at writing SQL
Experience with cloud infrastructures
Familiarity with Tableau, Looker or Microstrategy
Understanding of dimensional modeling techniques (e.g. relational vs. star)
Impeccable verbal and written communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences
