THE ROLE: COPY MANAGER

OLLY’s in need of a super-collaborative, culturally-savvy Copy Manager to help us bring compelling stories to life. Our ideal Copy Manager knows how to find that sweet spot between rich storytelling and translating data and insights into copy that resonates & drives consumer behavior throughout the funnel. Our Copy Manager takes an optimistic, tenacious approach to creative problem-solving. Our Copy Manager is both strategic and detail-oriented—we’re talking big-picture consumer journey stuff AND typos in the fine print. This position sits on the Creative team, within the greater Brand Impact Group comprised of Marketing, eCommerce, and Brand Strategy and collaborates cross-functionally with other departments within our organization.

 ​ ​KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of both digital and in-store experiences and how to write copy for multiple channels including but not limited to Omnichannel, Paid Social, Amazon, D2C, and Organic Social in support of 360° campaigns, new product launches, and always-on initiatives ​
  • Translate creative direction and editorial strategy into engaging and effective creative in partnership with Designers and Art Directors
  • Articulate messaging variations according to audience targets, stakeholder testing strategies or other versioning requests communicated in creative briefs
  • Protect our business against risk by ensuring all copy is compliant with established guidelines​ and ever-changing risk mitigation initiatives
  • Apply an innovative mindset to push our storytelling and find new, disruptive ways of messaging our brand
  • Keep tabs on what’s going on word-wise in our hyper-competitive industry​ and stay current on what’s resonating with our target audiences
  • Effectively manage projects and timelines with the support of Creative Operations to ensure on-time delivery 
  • Actively contribute to the company culture and life at Camp OLLY

CAPABILITIES + SKILLS REQUIRED

  • 5 to 7 years of copywriting experience at agencies or in-house creative teams, preferably in CPG or Health and Wellness spaces
  • Deep understanding of English grammar and AP Style. Impeccable attention to detail is required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365. Figma and Wrike (or other project management platforms)​ experience is advantageous.
  • A strong portfolio showcasing strong conceptual thinking and excellent editorial and performance writing (360° campaign experience is a big plus!)​
  • Solid communication skills with the ability to provide thoughtful and actionable feedback
  • Strong presentation skills to effectively present your ideas and rationale for concepts and final creative in a persuasive manner​

WHAT TO EXPECT DURING THE INTERVIEW PROCESS

  • Initial video screen with a member of our Talent team
  • Round 1: Conversation with the Hiring Manager + 1-2 conversations with other Ollies on the team
  • Round 2: 2-3 conversations with team or cross functional Ollies
  • Final Round: Homework*

*At OLLY, our final round is called Homework. LOCATION: San Francisco, CA - Hybrid schedule. Relocation support will be provided for out-of-area candidates.

The pay range for this position is $105,000-128,000 dependent on experience.
