Role: Strategic Digital Lead

Location: Hybrid / London, England, United Kingdom (onsite x2 days per week)

 

ROLE MISSION

Working in partnership with our client, the Strategic Digital Lead will lead the agency team within our client’s business which is an internationally known B2B and events organisation. We have been appointed to create a Digital Centre of Excellence within the clients’ marketing department where they have an ambition to put the Saudi events industry on the global map. The Digital Centre of Excellence will drive and embed best practices, will own the development and strategy of digital marketing channels, and will understand and grow audiences & engagement through all digital touchpoints.

 

ABOUT THE TEAM YOU WILL BE JOINING

Reporting to OLIVER’s Managing Partner, the Strategic Digital Lead will oversee a team of digital marketing experts within the dedicated Digital Centre of Excellence function. You will take responsibility of the main digital marketing channels and you will be expected to work closely with other external agencies and partners.


WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING IN YOUR ROLE

The successful candidate will be setting up and leading a new team to exploit digital channels to create and optimise lead generation and engagement programmes.  This will involve identifying new audiences, developing new digital propositions, and creating robust test and learn programmes.  This role comes with measurable revenue objectives. As well as leading the Digital Centre of Excellence you will be working in partnership with the clients’ Senior Marketing Manager’s and Digital Deployment leads.

WHAT IS REQUIRED: 

  • Experience in leading a digital team, with a solid grounding in digital marketing across different industry sectors.
  • An innovative strategic thinker.
  • Experience in the development and strategy of digital marketing channels and knowing how to grow audience & engagement through all digital touchpoints.
  • The know-how to develop new digital propositions and the ability to create robust test and learn programmes.
  • A broad understanding of all digital channels and how they work in a B2B context, including SEO, PPC, Content Marketing, Social Media, Email Marketing and Website.
  • The gravitas to be the digital expert in the room and the experience working closely with other external agencies and partners.
  • An analytical thinker who can get the best out of in-house data analysts and strategists.
  • A results driven mindset with a proven track record in delivering commercial success (digital, marketing & commercial KPIs) and understanding the importance and impact of effective reporting.
  • The understanding of the of digital marketing ecosystem and how to drive the best efforts of the resources available - understanding how things are pieced together, and how a content strategy fits in with SEO and PPC efforts – with the goal of driving traffic and converting leads.
  • You will understand the roles of PPC and Community Management and how these channels influence the marketing distribution strategy.
  • A technical understanding of the digital marketing channel mix and understanding the possibilities and limitations.
  • You will be a lifelong learner and will be interested in innovative technologies and trends, and who is committed to staying ahead in the field. You will be passionate about what you do.
  • Working in a team of approx. 28.
  • 5 direct reports.
  • Overseas travel.

WHAT SKILLS WILL HELP YOU BE SUCCESSFUL 

  • An agency background with client-side experience will be advantageous in this role.
  • Experienced leader and a strong understanding of how to motivate and develop high performing teams.
  • Experience of building and sustaining meaningful client partnerships whilst maintaining strong commercial focus.
  • C-suite client management experience.
  • Experience in building a brand's presence online through digital public relations - including getting featured in digital media, influencer collaborations, and online reputation management.
  • Results driven – creation of and delivery against business plans driven by growth targets.
  • Excellent communication skills to be able to robustly create and present solutions and strategies to clients, and continually cascade knowledge / news throughout immediate teams and the wider business.
  • Confident working autonomously and being able to self-manage.
  • Excellent presentation skills – both written and spoken.
