THE ROLE

OLIPOP is searching for a VP of Category Management & Business Insights to join our team and drive high impact in category management, business insights, & shopper insights. This position focuses on building and growing our current data and analytics functions & team while evaluating performance to support the sales, commercial strategy, & leadership teams in identifying trends, celebrating success and exposing areas of opportunity.

In this role, you’ll be the functional leader of the Category Management & Business Insights team. RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Build a best in class category management and business insights team for the fastest growing beverage category in the country
  • Understand the importance and skills that are needed to build a high performing, cross-functional, and growth mindset team that will be critical for the continued success of the OLIPOP brand and the category we lead.
  • Develop & own our current category & insights strategies to drive sales growth and increase market share across the business such as, but not limited to: category management, space planning & optimization, selling stories, key account support in both large and small format channels of business, retailer insights & optimizations, business insights, distribution insights, shopper insights, etc. 
  • Develop & own the fact based narratives and stories we share with our retailer partners through selling cycles, formal category reviews, business reviews, and pre-post reset optimization conversations.
  • Develop, own, and adapt our current category and business insights toolbox of reports & dashboards to enable both our key account teams & field execution teams to succeed within their roles & functions.
  • Collaborate with the commercial planning & RGM team on innovation, revenue optimization, & strategic initiatives that are tied back to the syndicated and shopper data your team owns and manages.
  • Collaborate with the customer & shopper marketing teams on space planning, merchandising, & shopper insights to inform our look of success across our retail partners and key channels of business.
  • Collaborate with our marketing & brand team on understanding retail impact across top of funnel & bottom of funnel initiatives that are aiding the growth of the business.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 10+ years in the consumer packaged goods industry experience within an insights function or role; beverage experience a plus.
  • 6+ years being a people manager with impactful leadership experience.
  • Deeply passionate about OLIPOP, and inspired by what we represent. Has the desire and hunger to make an impact.
  • Obsession for understanding sales trends. Lives, breathes and dreams about how to better translate data to tell stories, drive teams, & provide strategic guidance for our teams.
  • Enthusiastic and comfortable working in an early stage company. Ability to think rapidly in a growing and changing environment.
  • Ability to be a leader, a teacher, & a willingness to get your hands on critical projects and strategic initiatives for the business.
  • Must be a highly adaptable strategic thinker that is willing to be curious and a creative problem solver.
  • Extensive experience in understanding consumer needs and the retail environment.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including capabilities in data manipulation, cleaning, and formatting techniques such as VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, and other formula-based operations. Demonstrated experience in not only utilizing but also designing and building complex dashboards, analytical tools, and reporting mechanisms to effectively communicate insights and drive strategic decision-making.
  • You’re able to know when to delegate, know when to coach, & know when to jump in.
  • Strong ability to connect the dots from data to building a comprehensive narrative to grow our brand and business.
  • A thorough understanding of both syndicated and consumer panel data as well as the provider's platforms/portals (IRI/Circana, SPINS, NielsenIQ, Numerator...etc.).
  • Ability to draw conclusions from large amounts of data and summarize findings in a concise manner and in a compelling way.
  • An acute attention to detail, but not to the point of being inflexible, and the ability to produce accurate work quickly & efficiently.
  • Ability to take initiative and work autonomously – you can run with something from beginning to end.
  • Works well with ambiguity and asks the right questions to get at the solution.
  • Strong planning, organization and project management skills, along with excellent interpersonal, written/oral communication and presentation skills. 
  • Proficient in Google Suite and Microsoft Suite. Experience with team collaboration tools such as Slack and Zoom preferred.

 

COMPENSATION:

$220,000-$240,000 base salary + bonus
