Ben and David have been working together for nearly a decade to find accessible solutions to bring the benefits of digestive health to as many consumers as possible.  OLIPOP is a deliciously refreshing tonic that is crafted with prebiotics, botanicals, and natural plant fiber to support your microbiome and benefit digestive health. THE ROLE

 

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as our Manager of Scientific & Medical Affairs. In this role, you’ll have a wide reaching impact by driving a diverse set of projects ranging from scientific research, ingredient or product innovation, beverage as engagement/medicine programs, scientific content creation and registered dietitian community development spanning retail to dietetic associations. Additionally, this role will involve scientific communication, project management, speaking to different types of audiences from technical to non-technical, scientific and HCP community building. The ideal candidate has a deep passion for the science behind the gut microbiome, digestive health, and metabolic health, and can effectively communicate this science to a broad and diverse audience.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Ownership of internal science and medical affairs project management platform ensuring advancement of key strategic initiatives.
  • Consult with marketing, creative, sales, PR, quality, and S&MA teams to develop relevant scientific, health or technical content supporting OLIPOP’s core health values.
  • Co-developing retailer registered dietitian & wellness initiatives supporting in-store education, retail health partnerships or conferences and OLIPOP’s scientific leadership position in functional soda.
  • Co-develop registered dietitian/healthcare practitioner roadmap to socialize OLIPOP’s leading scientific and health position in functional soda, research outcomes and optimize community building initiatives to maintain strong engagement.
  • Identify, support preparation, and speak at various industry trade shows or retailer events communicating OLIPOP’s scientific and healthcare strategy to multiple stakeholder groups.
  • Support execution of the food as medicine reimbursement strategic roadmap to increase OLIPOP’s accessibility, affordability & reimbursement across various policy or healthcare system initiatives.
  • Oversee scientific research projects & strategic roadmap ensuring critical milestone achievement.
  • Support technical writing projects such as whitepapers or scientific manuscripts.
  • Ensure accurate communication of key scientific concepts in sales materials, media, and conferences.
  • Collaborate with supply chain and commercialization teams for new product development, including ingredient scientific diligence and claims substantiation.
  • Collaborate and communicate at all organizational levels to understand commercial goals and drivers and to align on key S&MA initiatives with stakeholders and leadership.
  • Embody collaborative, curiosity-oriented, accountability-focused, detail-oriented, grounded visionary and highest impact prioritization mindset guiding decision-making processes.
  • Willing to “think outside the box” and take calculated risks.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Deeply passionate about OLIPOP, and inspired by what we represent. Has the desire and hunger to make an impact.
  • Bachelor degree (preferably Master’s degree) in nutrition, epidemiology, public health, microbiology or closely related field in human health and wellness.
  • Registered Dietitian credentials are a plus.
  • Academic and/or (preferably) CPG industry experience in nutrition, gut microbiome, digestive health and/or metabolic health.
  • Requires at least three years of prior managerial and/or indirect leadership experience overseeing scientific, health, content and registered dietitian program initiatives.
  • Ability to create visually appealing scientific content at different levels of technical depth.
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and project management experience. You are systems-thinking yet exceptional at prioritizing for organizational impact and timelines.
  • Curious and passionate about understanding why prebiotic fiber and botanicals can truly help address multiple health conditions.
  • Experience running in-vitro and human clinical trial studies at a pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, or CPG company is a plus.
  • Experience in negotiating, managing and overseeing clinical research organizations (CROs) and other consultants to drive successful trial outcomes is a plus.
  • Experience writing or overseeing manuscripts for publication in academic journals.
  • Experience partnering with registered dietitians, nutritionists, healthcare or health coaching professionals for marketing, awareness and/or community-building.
  • Familiarity or strong interest in food as medicine legislation, initiatives and programs to support expansion of OLIPOP into reimbursement or other health insurance programs.
  • Strong negotiation, verbal reasoning, scientific and technical knowledge.
  • Prior experience working in scientific or health-oriented roles with external facing communication responsibilities for CPG, functional health or nutraceutical wellness brands.
  • Has an abundance of curiosity and a keen understanding of the “why.”
  • Strong ability to build consensus while having the strength to have tough conversations in support of achieving key strategic objectives.

  • Comfortable leading or being led and ability to effectively communicate at all levels of the organization.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity, has great attention to execution, and the ability to effectively prioritize at both the project and task level.
  • This position is remote and requires approximately 25% travel.

COMPENSATION:

$90,000-$100,000 base salary + bonus
