THE ROLE

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as our Regulatory Compliance Manager. In this role, you will be leading all regulatory compliance efforts at OLIPOP. This role collaborates cross functionally with the Quality Assurance, R&D, Marketing and Commercialization teams. The Regulatory Compliance Manager will ensure that, as the business grows, OLIPOP is informed and has strategic assessments for all the applicable regulations for it’s products. The Compliance Manager will also be responsible for improving the  efficiency of regulatory review processes while maintaining OLIPOP’s compliance and accuracy of marketing and other external communications.  You will also be responsible for leading the Regulatory team in their efforts to support the goals of the larger organization.  This role is suited for an individual with effective execution skills and an emphasis on innovation, collaborative leadership and creative problem solving.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • In coordination with the R&D Manager develop technical data for labels (label Information with nutritional panels, ingredient statements, product names, claims) and for other packaging (cases, displays, pallets)
  • Work closely with the OLIPOP legal team to advise on risks and benefits of all compliance situations involving - ingredients, formulations, label claims, etc
  • Collaborate cross functionally with the Ecommerce and Digital Product teams to develop and approve the content of consumer and customer promotions (web site, coupons, internet and advertising)
  • Lead development and maintenance of Regulatory policies and systems within OLIPOP’s digital systems (FoodLogiq and Genesis R&D)
  • Responsible for closely monitoring federal and state regulatory developments, and professional networks to stay current on regulatory policies, and proactively participate in industry and government regulatory forums 
  • Collaborate with the Sr. Director of Science and Medical Affairs to develop regulatory strategies for the business as a whole and ensure that all departments are adequately informed of OLIPOP’s policies
  • Develop strategy for upcoming compliance deadlines such as USDA National Bioengineered Foods Disclosure Standard, PFAS in packaging etc.
  • Manage all third party certifications for the company - Kosher certifications, Non-GMO, Vegan, Paleo, Gluten Free, Beverage container redemption value requirements, California and other state labeling propositions, and any other Label and Packaging initiatives
  • Research and stay abreast of Prop 65, PFAS, and other packaging requirements to ensure compliance with relevant state and federal requirements
  • Develop and implement ongoing program to audit Regulatory information on labels for all OLIPOP products
  • Work with the commercialization team to track required revisions,  past changes, label updates and exceptions to proactively revise labels during next scheduled printings
  • Participate in the OLIPOP Supplier Approval Program
  • In partnership with Sr. R&D Manager and QA Manager sign-off on the development or changes to existing product formulas 
  • Aid QA Manager in response to customer inquiries as they pertain to regulatory compliance
  • Partner with Sr. R&D Manager and Sr. Director of Science and Medical Affairsto develop compliance verification testing for all claims and label information
  • Develop and maintain substantiation documents for labels and claims

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science or related discipline 
  • 7-10 years experience in beverage packaging compliance. 
  • Experience managing and leading teams
  • FTC advertising regulations, Claim substantiation, and industry best practices
  • Experience with Genesis R&D software
  • FoodLogiq software experience a plus
  • Knowledge of international (Mexican, Canadian, EU) labeling laws, label layout requirements, and other international regulatory requirements is a strong plus
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Suite is required, and prior experience with Google Workspace preferred
  • Strong attention to detail with good follow through to ensure job completion and accuracy
  • Good organizational skills, ability and willingness to help solve complex supply scenarios
  • People oriented nature resulting in a drive to help others; resulting in strong customer service and responsiveness
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple high priority objectives

 

REPORTS TO: Director of QA, R&D

 

COMPENSATION: $95,000-$105,000
