About the Opportunity

In the role of Compliance Manager within the Regulatory Compliance team, your primary objective is to maintain the highest standards of regulatory compliance across key jurisdictions. Your responsibilities include mapping regulations to internal policies, procedures, and risk controls, identifying gaps, and managing their remediation. As the central compliance liaison, you will be instrumental in supporting licensing applications, ensuring compliance with both local and central regulatory requirements. By monitoring regulatory changes, you will ensure that the firm's compliance framework remains current and fully integrated with operational practices. You will also be responsible for managing a standardized regulatory examination plan for the jurisdictions in your region. This role demands a high level of precision, focusing on accuracy and quality to uphold the firm's compliance posture.

What You’ll Be Doing 

  • Map out and keep current the compliance framework with applicable regulations in key jurisdictions, linking them to internal policies, procedures, and risk controls.
  • Identify, document, and manage the remediation of compliance gaps, ensuring the firm meets regulatory expectations.
  • Serve as the primary central compliance liaison for licensing applications across various jurisdictions, aligning local and central compliance efforts.
  • Oversee, or participate in, the development, authoring and continual refinement of the firm's compliance policies and procedures with a focus on accuracy, clarity, consistency, and regulatory alignment.
  • Monitor for regulatory changes, interpreting their impact on the firm, and seamlessly integrating these changes into the existing compliance framework.
  • Manage local audit and regulatory examinations specific to the region, including notification, document collection, interview and process live-walkthrough preparation, responses and follow-up communication, finding reviews, and signoffs.
  • Ensure findings resulting from local audits and regulatory examinations are appropriately tracked and remediated in a timely manner.
  • Conduct compliance training sessions focused on regulatory change to foster a culture of regulatory adherence across the firm.
  • Engage with regulatory bodies and external advisors to ensure the firm is represented accurately and compliantly in all regulatory matters.

What We Look For In You 

  • Bachelor's degree in Law, Business Administration, IT, or a related field.
  • Significant experience in compliance roles, including hands-on experience with policy and procedure authoring, emphasizing accuracy and quality.
  • In-depth understanding of global regulatory compliance frameworks, especially as they relate to the crypto industry.
  • Ability to interpret complex regulations and craft clear, actionable policies and procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the capability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Independence in managing multiple tasks and priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Professional qualifications in compliance, such as ACAMS or DipICA or equivalent, are essential.
  • Understanding of Asia's regulatory landscape for crypto firms.

Nice to Haves

  • Fluency in English.
  • Prior experience in the crypto industry or a strong interest in cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology.
  • Familiarity with risk management frameworks and software.
  • Experience in developing and implementing comprehensive compliance training programs.
  • Prior experience working for a regulator.
