Position Title: Business Development Manager / Director

Reports To: Chief Commercial Officer 

Location: Aptos, CA (remote/hybrid work available)

Time Type: Full Time 

 

The Opportunity: 

Ohalo Genetics is seeking a motivated Business Development Manager / Director to join our growing team. This role will be a pivotal addition to building our world-class team and will report to the Chief Commercial Officer. The Business Development Manager / Director will support developing winning strategies and commercializing break-through technologies with partners across the globe. The selected candidate will be fundamental to the success of Ohalo and the impact of enriching lives and helping the environment on Earth. Specific title to be determined based on depth and extent of prior experience.

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Strategy Review:
    • Drive periodic strategic reviews and updates (overall and crop specific) with key insights and implications
    • Deepen our crop specific market understanding; engage with subject matter experts and advisors
    • Identify and evaluate new market opportunities
    • Develop and oversee a systematic market and competitive intelligence tracking and review process
  • Business Development:
    • Formulate and evaluate commercialization scenarios, partnership approaches, alternative business models to maximize long term value creation
    • Identify and pursue partnership opportunities (from initial contact to deal closure) in close collaboration with CCO and Leadership Team as appropriate  
    • Boost Ohalo’s strategic and tactical preparedness for partnership development
    • Develop financial modeling of commercial deals considered
    • Draft and support negotiations of key partnership terms (term sheets, MOUs, LOIs)
  • Provide ad-hoc support and input into financial and operational matters as needed and appropriate 

 

Candidate Profile: 

  • Minimum 3 years of work experience at a premier strategy consulting firm or an internal strategy function of a reputable corporation, or a private equity / venture capital firm
  • Fluency in market analysis involving creative pursuit of information gathering and drawing compelling insights 
  • Exceptional skills in developing rigorous financial models with the ability to address ambiguity with well supported assumptions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in managing and developing others is a plus
  • Educational background in plant biology/microbiology desired  
  • Work experience related to agriculture is prefered but not required
  • Extremely high attention to detail in a rapidly changing environment
  • Planning, organizational, and time management skills are unmatched
  • Highly motivated, proactive, and willing to take on new challenges
  • Excellent project and process management
