About the Job

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is part of the senior executive team.  The CFO will lead OffSec’s finance, legal, and co-lead HR with the CEO.  The CFO will be responsible for managing the financial operations of the company, focusing on key operational and financial metrics, overseeing financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and aligning financial strategies with company growth strategy to ensure sustainable and profitable growth.  The CFO will use a data-driven approach to optimize for pricing, customer acquisitions, and revenue generation initiatives, as well as operational efficiency.  The CFO will work closely with the sales team for deal support, and will also work closely with the Board for various reporting needs.

 

Duties and responsibilities

Financial Planning and Analysis

Develop financial models, forecasts, and budgets to track performance against strategic goals, including managing cash flow and identifying potential risks 

Revenue Optimization

Analyze revenue by product and by customer types to understand customer acquisition costs, customer retention rates, and pricing strategies to maximize revenue growth and optimize customer lifetime value 

Metric Monitoring

Develop insightful KPIs to know the health of the business and where improvement opportunities lie, including metrics such as customer acquisition cost (CAC), customer lifetime value (LTV), net dollar retention, unit cost of various operational functions

Strategic Decision Making

Be an active contributor to develop company growth strategies.  Collaborate with the executive team to develop and implement financial strategies that align with the company's overall business objectives. 

Board Relations

Prepare financial presentations and reports for the board, manage relationships with financial services providers, and support fundraising activities when needed 

Compliance and Reporting

Ensure adherence to financial regulations and accounting standards, oversee financial reporting processes, and produce accurate financial statements 

Team Management

Lead the finance team, including accounting, budgeting, and analysis functions, and develop talent within the department.  Build and foster relationships across multiple cross-functional teams

 

Skills and Qualifications

Experience

  • Enterprise B2B - 10+ years of experience as a finance leader in a fast growing B2B enterprise sales-focused software business
  • Recurring Revenue - in depth, hands-on experience with key metrics for a SaaS or recurring business model, such as customer acquisition cost, churn, retention, net and gross dollar retention
  • Global sales - 10+ years of leading financial operations for a business with global operations with an international sales motion including B2B sales, government sales, and partner and channel sales
  • Analytics - extremely analytical, capable of collecting and analyzing the key data to gain insights to guide the business for revenue optimization and margin improvements
  • Strategic - a strategic thinker, able to learn fast about a new industry and business, and have been an active contributor to develop company strategy as a senior financial leader
  • FP&A - strong background in FP&A, with hands-on experience managing FP&A  in large and growing B2B software and/or SaaS companies
  • Hands-on - able to deep dive deeply into the business and work with the finance and accounting teams and other cross-functional teams in a hands-on, roll-up-the-sleeves fashion 
  • B2C - A great nice-to-have experience running B2C businesses as a financial leader
  • Leadership - a great leader that will develop the teams and be a peer to collaborate with the rest of the executive team(s), embracing a growth mindset, striking the right balance between business and people, and leading by example
  • M&A - experience evaluating and executing on expansion via acquisitions including post-acquisition integration 
  • Bonus points - if the candidate has worked in a private equity-backed company focusing on strong EBITDA growth or in the cybersecurity industry.

Technical Expertise

  • Highly proficient with excel, Google drive tools, capable of building financial models hands-on or providing detailed guidance to teams
  • Highly analytical, capable of extracting actionable insights from vast amount of data
  • Experienced in developing financial and operational KPIs that indicate the health of business, and areas for improvements
  • Able to deep dive with teams to enable goal achievement, and to proactively identify signals for potential forecast risks to facilitate necessary corrections

Leadership

  • A strategic thinker with hands-on execution skills and the ability to lead from the front.
  • Expertise in providing a vision for what must be done, winning the support to execute the vision and managing to achieve established business objectives.
  • Capable of executing short-term (tactical) and long-term (strategic) plans.
  • Experience managing and inspiring globally distributed teams in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Setting clear and measurable performance objectives and monitoring progress rigorously, planning, and linking action to business priorities
