Summary:
We are looking for a strong, hands-on Director of Engineering to lead multiple teams managing the core Extraction Platform at Ocrolus. This group of very strong engineers oversees the proprietary Ocrolus Human-In-The-Loop platform that is the backbone of our document processing service. The platform must provide real-time results with low latency, under heavy load (in the millions of pages per day), and be highly available for our 24/7 operation. This team works closely with our AI and Automation teams as well as our Operations teams, and has a strong upcoming roadmap of scaling our system to 3x our current volume, expanding our document classification and capture coverage, and improving the internal architecture to unify our underlying data models.
The ideal candidate for this role will enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, have experience working across multiple time-zones in a distributed environment, and collaborating strongly with multiple teams and stakeholders. This person will also have experience scaling systems, making incremental architectural improvements, and leading multiple teams simultaneously while setting the technical vision for the document platform in conjunction with executive leadership and the Product team.
What you’ll do:
- Lead multiple teams of talented engineers and set the technical vision and direction for the future state of the document platform
- Partner closely with Ocrolus Product and Operations teams to support their specific needs while maintaining high quality and consistent performance metrics across the platform
- Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and execute the Engineering strategy, identifying opportunities for growth
- Champion a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the engineering team, encouraging experimentation, creativity, and knowledge sharing
- Recruit, coach, and develop engineers and engineering managers
- Contribute to engineering-wide initiatives as a member of Ocrolus' engineering leadership
- Monitor and evaluate project and system performance against strategic goals and adjust as necessary to ensure successful execution and delivery
