Position Overview

We’ve been growing rapidly and are looking for a seasoned Technical Product Marketing Engineer to drive the marketing materials content generation, messaging, and sales enablement for Ocient’s enterprise data warehouse platform.  We are looking for a technical marketing engineer capable of understanding Ocient’s technology at the deepest technical levels, capable of understanding the value proposition of Ocient and effectively communicating those benefits to our customers.   This role is a technical role in which you should be capable of understanding the nuances of SQL engines and the architectural differences that give Ocient its unique advantage.  We are looking for an individual that is capable of planning and executing programs to drive awareness and accelerate customer demand for our revolutionary technology, a team member to create and refine strategic sales and marketing collateral that clearly articulates the value proposition of our amazing technology, and a candidate who can collaborate closely with our product managers and sales & marketing teams to translate Ocient’s technological breakthroughs into digestible material for our technical and less-technical audiences.



  • Own go-to-market materials for new product releases, including technical presentations and technical discussion on new features.  
  • Work closely with Product Management to create product marketing roadmaps and create assets (customer facing and internal) to inform and educate about the product’s key value points, benefits and differentiators
  • Work closely with sales on enablement, sales & marketing plays, and working closely with sales operations on building technical presentations.
  • Work closely with Marketing on awareness plans, ensuring that we’re building out solid communications, press, and influencer programs
  • Fully manage core product content creation from ideas to internal reviews to external placement and work with the Marketing team to develop campaigns that drive awareness, inbound traffic and, ultimately, sales pipeline and revenue
  • Optionally appear as a spokesperson for Ocient at events, on podcasts and webinars, and contribute to written marketing and communications collateral via blog posts, eBooks and long form papers
  • Support sales and partners with focused training and sales artifacts (FAQs, positioning guides and objection handling)



  • 6+ years of technical experience with databases or data warehouses. Candidates can come from a variety of backgrounds including marketing, sales engineering, product management or engineering. If you have a strong engineering background using data warehouse platforms at scale and are looking to be in product marketing, we are open to engineers looking for a career change.
  • A strong technical background in databases with the ability to understand technical database architectures, storage and compute architectures, loading architectures, transforming architectures and database indexing architectures. You will need to be able to understand why Ocient technology achieves amazing price / performance.
  • Excellent writing skills with the ability to research, understand and explain the most technical aspects of a database. You should be able to read and understand technical design documents and then write about why Ocient has a fundamentally better architecture.
  • A strong understanding of the database industry and the ability to compare Ocient with other architectures. Develop and possess a comprehensive understanding of product functionality, intimate understanding of buyer and user aspirations and pains, and be familiar with competitor products.
  • Foster trusted working relationships to reach collaborative decisions with peer professionals and Product and Marketing leadership with a bias towards action and a sense of urgency
  • Experience and success in launching and delivering new products / services into the market
