An exciting new opportunity is now available within our Projects and Transactions team.  The Project Accounting Manager will have accountability for accurate and timely accounting and capitalisation of projects aligned to policy. They will also be responsible for driving continuous improvement in project costing processes

Working for Ocado you ca expect Hybrid working. We attend our Hatfield offices twice a week. The days can be agreed with your team. 

Some of the things you can expect in role?

  • Line management of the newly established projects team bringing together all project accounting for the business: Manage a high performing highly engaged team setting clear objectives, managing performance and providing support and development
  • Manage the team administering projects establishing and evolving best practice on project accounting: owning the end to end project lifecycle and driving process excellence
  • Working alongside the fixed assets team to ensure the relevant accounting standards are applied, and capitalisation is in line with policy
  • Manage the team to execute relevant project activities (timesheet administration, travel & expenses, allocation of costs) accurately and on a timely basis
  • Manage a timely period close for projects ensuring accurate reporting and reconciliations including adherence to transfer pricing requirements and review of intercompany asset transfers
  • Oversight & management of project approval and forecasting cycle against baseline and schedule
  • Supporting the year end audit process
  • Providing overall capex portfolio reporting to support decision making regarding costs and opportunities; working with commercial finance team to support project reporting and identification of risks and opportunities
  • Drives standards and consistency across project accounting including structures and accounting standards
  • Ensure performance targets and KPIs are delivered

About you

  • Project accounting experience in a global engineering / technology environment will be amazing!
  • In depth knowledge of project accounting
  • Experience in finance environment with a track record of delivering effectiveness, efficiency and compliance targets / SLAs
  • Relevant financial qualifications and understanding of relevant regulatory environments
  • In depth understanding of core financial processes and relevant systems
  • Knowledge of accounting, tax and reporting standards & principles,
  • Experience in a fast paced global environment
  • Ability to develop team objectives dividing them in manageable tasks, coordinating and driving achievement across the teams
  • Skill set to motivate their team to drive to improve service and effectiveness
  • Mindset for continuous learning actively seeking and providing feedback
  • Ability to build and provide effective analysis & insight to support decision making
  • Champions change and supports others  - We are in it together!
