How you will spend your days...

The Asset Handling Automation department is responsible for a large portfolio of the physical automation that powers our highly efficient Customer Fulfilment Centres (CFCs). This automation enables our CFCs to deliver unparalleled productivity for our retail partners along with enabling new market propositions. 

In this Product Manager role, you will be working on the automation of the Inbound and Replenishment areas. You will create a product roadmap and define/evolve effective solutions for these novel and complex product areas - ultimately creating and owning a portfolio of business critical products. You will partner with Engineering Team Leads, to be a key go-to person within a specific area and sharing responsibility for the realisation of great products and solutions for our clients. Providing clear business requirements to the relevant product stream areas, you will act as a bridge between the technical and business worlds.

Using your effective problem identification and definition skills you will drive discovery, the formation of capability definitions and coherent supporting business cases. With excellent evidence based decision making and clear rationale, you will use appropriate tools for the scenario to make timely decisions. You will have ownership of a product throughout the full lifecycle, from idea generation to launch, maturity and end of life.

You will work proactively and autonomously to own and develop the product capabilities, while supporting and collaborating with other members of the product and engineering teams on wider initiatives, and provide mentoring and coaching to others working in Product. 

We’d love to hear from you if you have….

  • Significant experience of working in a product led environment, ideally as a Product Owner, Product Manager or similar role
  • Knowledge of multiple functional areas, including product management, engineering, UX/UI
  • Experience with managing products built by engineering teams
  • Defining product roadmaps, building collaboratively with Engineering peers
  • Experience of managing the full product lifecycle, from ideation to end of life.
  • A strong talent in communication - consistently clear and compelling in verbal, visual and written form
  • Proven ability to plan, manage, track and deliver on commitments
  • Ability to work both as an effective team member, and in an autonomous capacity as appropriate to task
  • An analytical mind set - ability to estimate the value of features or changes, performing cost-benefit analysis and constructing business cases
  • Proven ability to plan, manage, track and deliver on commitments
  • Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment

It would be great but it’s not essential if you have… 

  • An understanding and appreciation for, or domain experience of, development and design of automation, industrial or embedded systems
  • Previous experience creating and launching hardware products in multiple international territories.
  • Experience using relevant software packages with a product focus (examples might include Jira, Gitlab, Wrike, Asana, Aha) to create and prioritise product roadmaps, features, stories etc.
