What does the team do
As we move our operations to a larger scale with external customers such as Casino, Kroger, etc, we are developing processes and seeking new ways to improve the overall reliability of our OSP Fulfilment platform. Test Services are focusing on the support we are offering to our automated warehouses and looking for ways to reduce it and make it less cumbersome. Two teams will be involved in the mitigation of the risk of the solution we are providing: Test Platform and Test Engineering.
The Test Engineering team is in the centre of the OSP Fulfilment platform, interfacing equally with platform and application teams. The team is responsible for the development of a collection of tools that enable the automatic validation of warehouse applications. Its core application is a test runner that enables the definition and configuration of any new or future Ocado warehouse, where Ocado Technology teams can execute their scenarios using their most preferred industry-standard framework.
The Test Platform team is responsible for the development of an in-house tool that creates isolated and fully virtualized warehouses for the execution of various types of testing. By isolating OSP applications in our infrastructure, end-to-end testing becomes deterministic and parallelizable, and can be executed in a safe production-like environment before our applications are deployed to the Ocado warehouses.
Both teams are undergoing an exciting transformation: the tooling is expanding to not just accommodate K8s applications but also AWS-based systems. By doing so, both teams aim to provide a safety net between applications and the platform teams, enabling each of our 24/7 warehouses to operate at hundreds of thousands of orders per week.
What would I be doing?
You will be part of a collaborative team of Software Engineers where you will mentor and help drive excellence in the team. You’ll be working with the team to find innovative solutions to complex problems in a timely way, working together to deliver fantastic products and services that will be used by our colleagues and clients globally..
What we are looking for
- Experience working with Scala
- Excellent OOP and software design skills, with demonstrable problem solving skills
- Good understanding of Data Structures
- Experience with the full Software Development Life Cycle
- Proficiency in English (both verbal and written).
