We are currently recruiting for a Warehouse Team Manager (known internally to Ocado as an Area Manager) to work nights within our Stock Availability team at Ocado's state-of-the-art Customer Fulfilment Centre based in Purfleet, Essex, which is due to go live later this year. This site is 258,000 square feet and boasts world leading technology, which is predominantly developed in house at Ocado. At full capacity we will be fulfilling over 80,000 customer orders a week, which requires a 24/7 operation and a dedicated team of colleagues and managers who lead by example.

As a Stock Availability Area Manager with Ocado, you will be responsible for the day to day management of the Stock Availability Team Members and will be accountable for meeting agreed targets and standards in respective work areas. With the customer at the centre of everything Ocado does, protecting customer fulfilment will be a daily priority for your team. Through monitoring the entirety of the operation you will be responsible for the full life cycle of all stock and assets as they flow through the warehouse. You will provide technical expertise and facilitate the monitoring of operational processes and procedures that support the operational team to deliver maximum client and customer value.

To be considered for this role, you must have experience within a 24/7 inventory support, stock control or operational environment, with the ability to work well under pressure and manage to tight deadlines. You must also be an experienced people manager capable of dealing with all issues that arise from managing people within a time-sensitive and demanding operational environment.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining exceptional health and safety standards, promoting a positive on-site safety culture ensuring safe systems of work (SSOW) / Risk Assessment materials are fit for purpose and adhered to
  • Drive your team to support the wider operational areas to ensure stock is handled correctly, accurately and efficiently, leading a proactive culture that encourages a right first time approach
  • Overseeing the management of SKU exceptions processes including date life and quality issues and provide a point of liaison for internal customers such as Technical Compliance and Supply Chain
  • Ensure transactions that support the Goods In process are efficient and correct
  • Continuous improvement initiatives
  • Stock issue investigation and data Interpretation
  • Researching and reconciling stock discrepancies when necessary and adjusting stock records
  • Manage daily purge of stock and the assignment of products to our various third party customers

What else do you need to know?

You will also be expected to: 

  • Undertake tiered management/personal shopper tasks if the need arises
  • Stand/walk for extended periods 
  • Lift objects weighing up to 30kg (periodically) from the floor to shoulder height
  • Wear protective equipment to ensure requisite standards of health and safety are maintained
  • Train to use Mechanical Handling Equipment
  • Work in environments ranging in temperature from 30℃ to -30℃

What we are looking for:

Minimum:

  • High levels of Microsoft/Google package literacy

Preferred:

  • Working knowledge of computerised warehouse management systems
  • Knowledge of our Stock Availability systems and processes
  • Working knowledge of food safety systems
  • IOSH qualified

Working Hours:

You will be required to work an average of 48 hours per week working 12 hour shifts any 4 from 7.

Please note: As this site is not due to go live until later this year, you will be based at our site in Erith, Kent initially; in order to go through a full induction, training and familiarisation of our Ocado Smart Platform (OSP).

Salary:

You will be paid a competitive salary of around £30,000 per annum, where as this is a night shift role, you will also receive an additional night shift premium on top.
