What does the team do
Engineering Productivity (EngProd), our vision is that Development teams intuitively, and symbiotically, utilise our tools so they are as empowered, and informed, as possible in the creation and delivery of world beating solutions.
The Cloud team is powering every AWS account in the company, with direct contact to customers (other engineers in the company) our engineering teams enjoy unprecedented autonomy, huge responsibility and impossible deadlines. Automation and Client Satisfaction are our main objectives for upcoming quarters.
What would I be doing / Learning?
As a member of the Cloud Services - Cirrus team you will be part of the team that is responsible for provisioning all AWS accounts used in Ocado, managing user access to all accounts as well as defining and deploying baseline configuration and security tooling to all accounts. You will be working alongside development and infrastructure teams to design, deliver, automate and operate the platform which hosts our business critical applications.
We are a cross functional, agile team looking for a candidate that has demonstrable experience as a DevOps engineer working on automation and testing. This role will be to support the team with the software development lifecycle so would ideally have a background in software development to bring practices from the software space to the infrastructure space. You will also be expected to participate in the team’s on call support rota.
Our goal is to create a platform that will empower our development teams and service our customers. You'll enjoy being part of the team if you like: learning fast (through experimentation, self-motivation etc); being autonomous but able to collaborate (sharing knowledge is important to us); craftsmanship and innovation (we never stop questioning how we can be better).
What we are looking for
- Demonstrable experience as a DevOps engineer working on tasks automation and automated testing (cloudformation, gitlab).
- Experience of Public Cloud technologies (AWS Preferred).
- Demonstrable software development and/or scripting abilities (Python preferred).
- Knowledge of the full stack and a higher view of all the connecting pieces.
- Knowledge of build and deployment mechanisms and continuous delivery methods.
- Keen advocate of measuring performance and trends (ie. Golden Signals) and use these to drive continuous improvement
- Proficiency in English (both verbal and written).
It would be a bonus if you have experience with any of the below technologies, but do not feel hesitant to apply if you don’t.
- Understanding of Web Application architectures.
- Web Application development; Python/Django or Java preferred, but not essential.
- Configuration management tools. Linux system administration.
- Internet technologies (DNS, TCP, load balancing, etc).
- Appreciation of security, reliability, scalability and availability requirements.
