We are now on the lookout for a motivated and career driven Technical Assistant to join our team at Ocado’s state-of-the-art automated Customer Fulfilment Centre which is around 350,000 square feet and boasts world leading technology, which is predominantly developed in house at Ocado. 

As an Engineering Maintenance Technical Assistant, you will play an important part in supporting the operation at our automated Customer Fulfilment Centre (CFC), assisting the maintenance technicians in providing reactive and planned maintenance activities as well as proactive improvement works. Complete Technical Cleaning of the equipment whilst ensuring that it does not adversely affect its performance.

At full capacity we will be fulfilling between 190,000 - 200,000 customer orders a week from Dordon, which requires 24/7 operation from a dedicated team of engineers and technicians.

What do we need from you?

Minimum:

  • Good working knowledge of automated warehouses and their technical components.
  • This role involves working at height using a variety of access equipment, so technical assistants need to be comfortable working at heights.
  • Comprehensive understanding of production, picking and storage MHE systems, gained from experience in an automated environment.
  • Experience of working with computerised maintenance management systems.
  • Flexibility of working pattern as and when required by business needs
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel and PC Literate

Responsibilities will include:

  • Working safely at all times and highlighting all H&S Issues to your Line Management.
  • Ensure an excellent approach to all activities and that site standards are maintained and driven by you.
  • Carry out daily cleaning activities in your specified area to a consistent high standard. This will include deep cleans on a regular basis to return areas and equipment back to the correct standard.
  • Clean as You Go in your areas of responsibility and highlight any issues to Line Management.
  • Support the Engineering Maintenance technicians on the technical cleaning of automated areas and to help maintain hygiene standards.
  • Assist the Engineering Maintenance Technicians in the Planned Preventative Maintenance to all automation including conveyors, shuttles and cranes.
  • For the right candidates full training will be given on the maintenance of certain automation. E.g. shuttles, pallet and tote conveyors.
