The New York Independent System Operator (NYISO) manages the efficient flow of electricity on more than 11,000 circuit-miles of high-voltage transmission lines, dispatching power from hundreds of generating units across the state.
As a Continuous Improvement Advisor, this individual will partner with business owners to identify and execute continuous improvement activities that result in business process outcomes that comply with all stakeholder expectations, including external regulators, Market Participants, the Board and Senior Management Team. The Continuous Improvement Advisor will also facilitate change aligned with the NYISO’s Strategic Plan and business objectives by providing assistance in improvement disciplines and tools to business owners and teams.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
- Facilitate improvement efforts as assigned utilizing improvement disciplines and tools (including, but not limited to Lean Six Sigma).
- Understand and implement internal and external requirements to improve the overall effectiveness and efficiency of the organization
- Serve as advisor to business process owners and teams, individually and in groups, in the scoping, planning, design and execution of improvement efforts utilizing the most appropriate discipline and tools
- Assist in developing and implementing organizational performance indicators, metrics and facilitate the continuous improvement of key indicators. Develop dashboards to be utilized by business process owners, Senior Management and the Board
- As an organizational change agent, drive a sustainable mind-set of continuous improvement throughout the enterprise
- Provide information on continuous improvement tools, metrics and analysis to groups across the organization.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS) in Business Management, Statistics, field of Liberal Arts, English, Mathematics, Engineering or related field required, completion of Black Belt training desirable.
- A minimum of three years business experience including at least two years’ experience in a Continuous Improvement role such as a LSS Black Belt; experience using Lean and Six Sigma quality tools and processes
- Experience in change management and managing cross-functional projects; or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Lean Six Sigma Black Belt required.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports and legal documents.
