Position Overview: The Senior Vice President of Ports, Waterfront, and Transportation - Asset Management at NYCEDC is entrusted with a pivotal role in the organization's mission to foster economic growth, enhance transportation infrastructure, and oversee directly managed port facilities. 

This leadership position entails strategic planning, effective management, and business development initiatives aimed at maximizing the potential of NYCEDC's waterfront assets. Reporting directly to the Executive Vice President of Asset Management, the incumbent will spearhead the development and execution of strategies to optimize the performance of the portfolio, encompassing cruise terminals, marine cargo terminals, maritime piers, and aviation assets. Central to this role is the emphasis on business acumen and extensive experience in asset management and port operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Formulate and execute a comprehensive vision, strategy, and tactics for the portfolio, aligning with NYCEDC's overarching goals.
  • Lead negotiations for critical acquisitions, dispositions, renewals, and repositioning initiatives across the portfolio, ensuring timely and mission-critical outcomes.
  • Maximize revenue streams, achieve public policy goals, and ensure efficient performance across all assets within the portfolio.
  • Drive business development efforts, including negotiating leases and operating agreements, to enhance the portfolio's financial performance and market competitiveness.
  • Develop cross-portfolio strategies in collaboration with internal teams to achieve triple-bottom-line outcomes and policy objectives.
  • Set and oversee integrated marketing and leasing programs across all properties, leveraging market insights to drive tenant attraction and retention.
  • Cultivate strong tenant relations and engage with key stakeholders to foster mutually beneficial partnerships and community engagement initiatives.
  • Oversee major redevelopment programs in coordination with the Asset Management Design & Construction team, optimizing asset utilization and enhancing operational efficiency.
  • Leverage extensive experience in asset management and port operations to develop innovative strategies for enhancing operational efficiency, risk management, and regulatory compliance.
  • Provide direct leadership and management oversight to the team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
  • Evaluate asset performance against industry benchmarks, implementing measures to optimize margins and enhance profitability.
  • Undertake any additional duties as assigned by the Executive Vice President, Asset Management.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 7+ years of relevant experience in maritime operations, transportation, logistics, real estate development, asset management, or related fields.
  • Demonstrated experience in asset management and port operations, including terminal management, facility design, stevedoring operations, security, and passenger services.
  • Proven track record in high-level negotiations, transaction management, and drafting related documents.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience leading diverse, professional teams.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and execute plans effectively.
  • Must be a New York City resident within 180 days of hire 

Preferred Qualifications:

  •  Master's Degree in a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a relevant field, with at least 5 years of direct supervisory experience.
  • Experience in asset/property management, lease administration, and tenant relations.
  • Familiarity with New York City real estate market dynamics.
  • Proficiency in construction management and zoning regulations.
  • Experience with property budgeting software, such as MRI or Yardi.
Salary Range
$155,000$170,000 USD
