Who You Are: The role of the Packaging Specialist plays a critical part in supporting the Strategic Sourcing team. You will propose and help lead projects related to material cost reduction and quality improvement using a data-driven approach for existing and yet to be launched packaging materials. You will work closely and proactively with internal representatives, and external where applicable.

What You're Good At:

  • Collaborating with key stakeholders in the development of strategic packaging component categories
  • Actively managing a large number of packaging related supplier relationships, associated costs, agreements, and respective usage allocations
  • Assisting in determining innovative packaging solutions to improve form, fit, function and sustainable manufacturability that are within COGS targets and production lead times
  • Completing quarterly pricing review and analysis of packaging components, working closely with internal and external partners
  • Tracking price trends on packaging commodities
  • Ownership of packaging documentation – TOPs, technical drawings, etc.
  • Cleaning up and maintaining of packaging BOM tool
  • Cost optimization- ideate, partnering cross-functionally and executing cost savings initiatives

What You Contribute: 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Supply Chain Management, Packaging Engineering / Science, Chemical Engineering, or related field
  • 2+ years of experience or interactive exposure in a packaging/supply chain role
  • Solid understanding of packaging materials and product commercialization process from packaging design through manufacturing
  • Proficient in Microsoft office, TOPS; Advanced Excel knowledge preferred
  • Experience in fast paced CPG environment is a plus.
  • Ability to effectively exercise tact, discretion, judgement, and diplomacy when interacting and/or negotiating with internal and external customers
  • Ability to manage multiple projects independently in a faced paced environment
  • Flexibility to independently travel up to 25% of the time to supplier locations and industry conferences
  • Strong knowledge of commodities and global packaging markets
  • Experience with primary and secondary packaging equipment and application
