What You’ll Do

As VP Operations, you will report to the CEO and oversee our Pharmacy and Customer Care teams (120+ people) based in Syracuse NY and Miami FL. You’ll also oversee our 7-person Operations Strategy team and have broad responsibility for defining our operating strategy going forward (e.g. the design of our pharmacy network, how we source drugs, how we partner with PBMs, our approach to customer care, what we outsource vs. insource, etc).  You will be a key member of our senior executive team and work closely with our CFO, CEO and Head of People.

This person will have experience leading, scaling, and inspiring large teams and creating cultures in which employees can thrive. This individual will be resourceful and have the flexibility to both set big-picture strategy and get in the weeds to solve problems. Familiarity with pharmacy operations, pharmacy regulations and the PBM/insurance industry is a plus.

Your direct reports will include the Director of Customer Care (based in Miami), the Head of Pharmacy Operations (based in Syracuse), and our Head of Operations Strategy (based in San Francisco).

Customer Care Operations

  • Support the Director of Customer Care who leads the day-to-day operations of our Miami Customer Care team (60+ people including 2 managers and 7 team leads).
  • Ensure that we deliver exceptional customer service to our 200k+ patients while increasing efficiency and reducing cost over time.
  • Partner with our Product Management team at HQ to improve our customer-care related software tools and processes.
  • Partner with our Clinical Services team (our providers and nurses) to ensure that our customer service is appropriately and seamlessly intertwined with our clinical care.
  • Partner with our People/HR team to ensure that our employees are supported and thriving.
  • Be an advocate for our Customer Care team in HQ.

Pharmacy Operations

  • Support the Manager of Pharmacy Operations who leads the day-to-day operations of our mail order pharmacy in Syracuse NY (40+ people including pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and clerks).
  • Oversee our relationships with the 7+ partner pharmacies that fill prescriptions on our behalf. Ensure that our pharmacy partners meet our SLAs by providing high-quality service in a timely fashion.
  • Secure all of the state licenses and PBM/insurance contracts required to support our patients.
  • Partner with our Product Management team at HQ to improve our pharmacy related software tools and processes.
  • Partner with our legal and compliance teams to ensure that we are always operating in compliance with the relevant rules and regulations. 
  • Partner with our People/HR team to ensure that our employees are supported and thriving.
  • Be an advocate for our Pharmacy team in HQ.

 

Ops Strategy and Planning

  • Develop and execute our strategy for scaling our operational teams and supporting the launch of new products and service lines.
  • Develop and execute a pharmacy network strategy
    • Enable us to serve all of our patients regardless of their state of residence or type of insurance
    • Create redundancy in case of outages
    • Maximize quality while minimizing costs
  • Develop and execute our strategy for sourcing Rx drugs from manufacturers and distributors.
  • Support our customer care and pharmacy teams with budgeting and headcount planning, and provide them with analytical support as needed.

A Bit About You

  • Bachelor Degree; MBA preferred
  • 3+ years experience as a VP or Director of operations
  • 10+ years of experience in supply chain operations, pharmacy operations, or customer service operations
  • 5+ years of leading large teams, and a demonstrated commitment to creating happy and high-performing team cultures in which people can thrive.
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills.
  • Excellent analytical, reasoning and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to both think strategically and get into the weeds to solve problems.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, confidence and executive presence.
  • Experience partnering with external vendors and negotiating contracts.
  • Healthcare industry knowledge is a plus.
