YOUR TEAM

The Data Organization at Nuna is an interdisciplinary group spanning data science, data analytics, actuarial science, and research. The team is responsible for supporting Nuna’s products through healthcare expertise, rigorous evaluation, monitoring and analytics, and algorithm development.  

The Data Science team is responsible for evaluating impact and developing critical algorithmic features across Nuna’s product suite. This involves bringing analytical rigor to product definition, monitoring, and evaluation, as well as design and development of predictive algorithms. The Data Science team takes ownership from the definition of input data requirements through to ensuring successful implementation. The team has a strong culture of internal algorithm review and collaboration. Data science works closely with other members of the data organization, engineering, product, and account management teams.  

YOUR OPPORTUNITIES

This opportunity will be focused on work that supports Nuna’s Meaningful Matches product, which improves cost, quality, and patient satisfaction by guiding patients to the right primary care physician (PCP) for their healthcare needs.

We are looking for someone who is excited to use their creativity and analytical skills to make a difference in healthcare.  You will develop new machine learning models, improve existing models, and evaluate performance to expand the business impact of one of Nuna’s core algorithmic products. 

You will have an opportunity to guide clients in making key decisions on configuring the product to achieve their organization’s specific business objectives. You will help to ensure that client needs are being met and guide them in providing the data and technical requirements for successful deployment.

  • Design, train, and expand ML models that drive Meaningful Matches, one of Nuna’s core product offerings
  • Evaluate algorithm success and ensure parity for any updates to support program reviews with clients
  • Contribute to automation of repeated evaluation processes
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners to ensure sufficient training data, model integration in software, and alignment on goals/timeline
  • Generate and prioritize new opportunities for model improvements that will expand product reach, efficacy, or ability to scale

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Qualifications

  • Experience designing, training, implementing, and evaluating machine learning algorithms that have launched to customers
  • Ability to solicit and translate customer and business needs into requirements and an evaluation framework
  • Proficient in python 
  • Interest in improving healthcare and working with interdisciplinary project teams
  • Clear communication and presentation skills with audiences of varying levels of technical sophistication
  • MS in a quantitative field (e.g. Data Science, Economics, Statistics, Engineering)
  • 5-10 years of industry experience 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with healthcare data (e.g., claims)
  • Experience scaling models and analysis across large datasets
  • Experience with causal inference 
  • Proficient in scala
  • Client-facing experience
  • PhD in a quantitative field
  • 3-5 years of industry experience

We take into account an individual’s qualifications, skillset, and experience in determining final salary. This role is eligible for health insurance, life insurance, retirement benefits, participation in the company’s equity program, paid time off, including vacation and sick leave. The expected salary range for this position is $216,000 to $249,000. The actual offer will be at the company’s sole discretion and determined by relevant business considerations, including the final candidate’s qualifications, years of experience, and skillset.
